The concept of a DJ chanting over a riddim and singers jumping in and out is not new, not original, not uncommon. Where many styles and genres have incorporated the concept, no one can take away the fact that this all started in Jamaica during the 1970's and even before that. No one can deny that Roots Reggae music, mixed in Dub style, is a perfect foundation for a DJ to chant over and exactly that is what you can find in the new showcase album of Messian Dread.

When the B-sides of Jamaican singles gradually changed from a mere instrumental version to a complete dub work-out by ones like King Tubby's, all of this paved the way for the maxi-singles or twelve-inch vinyl records: the extended mix containing both vocal and dub version in one long stop mix, often called discomixes.

Dangerous Discomixes honors this tradition with nine traditional discomixes, all created by Messian Dread in his Dubroom studio between the years 2014-2015. Some material was pre-recorded in studio's like ARIWA, the vocals were legally obtained and licensed, but everything was completely re-arranged and fit into original Dubroom riddims. It includes nine traditional Roots Reggae discomixes, digging deeper into the vast ocean of the vibes of Messian Dread. All tracks are original Dubroom productions. The vocals (Kojak, Horseman, Seamus, Clifton, Dillinger, U-Roy, Prince Jazzbo, Dillinger, Trinity) are legally obtained and licensed, the music and vocal arrangement created and mixed by Messian Dread with real horns, real this-and-that and of course real, authentic dub mixing.

Nine extended tracks, with the first half carrying the original Reggae riddim with full length lyrical content, followed by its dub version. Experience how dub is actually transforming a Reggae track into a spaced-out piece of ear candy.

Menilek is a dub reggae producer and instrumentalist from USA, inspired by roots reggae dub in the vein of Scratch Perry, Scientist, and King Tubby to name a few.

His debut album "Son of Solomon'' is a love letter to the late 70s and early 80s dubs that inspired him to start producing and performing reggae music. The album will be released on vinyl through Herby Records out of Austin, Texas.

Spanish self-taught producer RootsyBeats has been playing keyboard in many local and international reggae bands since 1980, sharing the stage with artists like Macka B, Mad Professor, Alpha Blondy, I Roy, Skarra Mucci just to name a few. Recently and with the rise of the internet and the ease that it offers to meet new people, he started to collaborate with artists from all over the world, composing and producing his own music.

Spiritual Calling, is a beautiful mix of relaxing sounds produced by RootsyBeats who with these fresh sounds mixes his rack with the beautiful melodies from the Colombian artist Dub Idren, already known to Dubophonic fans through his works Roots Strong and Mystical Valley with UK producer I-niverse, giving it a very tropical and sunny touch, calling for union and peace internal. A new tune is coming from the Land of the Rising Sun. The Osaka reggae singer Sister Maki, known through her collaboration with Dub Cmd in 2020 with Way To Zion, Swe in 2021 with Prayers and Shanti-K also in 2021 with Revolution, returns with a new tune.

This time she comes with her own band from her homeland Japan, which was founded in 2012, bringing a deeper meditation to the Kobe and Osaka Music scene. It includes Goja Bongos on the percussion and as special guest Aki Mittoo on the melodica, who continues to make wonderful music through her newly founded label Muffin Records.

Written by Shaky Norman and Med Dred, Forward Melodicas is the new tune by the two melodica virtuosos, opening year 2023 with more positive vibes. Stefanosis, the Los Angeles based multi-instrumentalist/producer, who has been crafting his musical art for over two decades, returns with a new single entitled Kali Yuga and presented in two versions: the original vocal composition and the obligatory dub version.

It is a stepper style reggae song with apocalyptic theme lyrics. Kali Yuga is a concept in Hinduism that says we're now in the fourth cycle/age of existence, which is the most difficult one. It is the age of darkness and despair among humanity and across the entire Earth, when chaos, confusion, and hypocrisy reigns. The unmistakable sound of Stefanosis is also in this release present, were roots reggae fuses with eastern melodies and philosophies!

The UK reggae dub producer I-niverse keeps spreading the message of peace, love & unification through his work. Hailing from the UK, his new EP is entitled Jah Grace Riddim and includes two songs based on that same riddim, staying true to Jamaica’s riddim culture where the instrumental/backing track is used for more than one song : Jah Grace is performed by the talented artist Leo Tan and inspired by The Holy Spirit through the artist’s Gospel background, while UK vocalist Amelia Harmony sings Thanks For Holding Me.
