We both watched Sir Davids new and extremely topical documentary on the damage and hopeful halting of climate change...there were a lot of interesting topics mentioned in the doc but barely explained like: seaweed farming, solar power exporting, carbon credits, accidental wilderness zones...basically all sorts of cool and ingenious ideas we can pursue to halt climate change. We felt it was necessary to pick out our favorite topics presented in the film, and go down some serious rabbit holes. And let me tell you friends, the rabbits did not disappoint. If you want to learn about some very nifty things humans can do to win the war on global warming, this episode is a great listen.

ITS HALLOWEEN BABY! that means we need to do an obligatory monster episode, and is there a monster more prevalent in popular culture in the last decade then zombies? We research the origin of zombie mythology and talk about how they exist as we know it in the real world, then bring on Dr. Cameron Carlson to educate us on how we might survive an actual outbreak. It's a wild ride!

Most of us freak out after being on an airplane for 3 hours, imagine being on a submarine for...6 months! In this episode we explore the engineering marvel that is the submarine, as well as dive (pun!) into the depths of its brutal history. We tip our hats to the men and women with the courage to serve on these boats, a truly unique and remarkable endeavor and one definitely worth looking at.

Mosquitoes kill more humans per year than any other creature in the world. These tiny animals are ubiquitous, and unique in the massive amounts of human suffering their antics produce. Should we get rid of them? And even if we should, how can we? We talk to Dr. Lawrence Reeves (@biodiversilary) about his research on mosquito ecology and how it might lead to a better planet free of some of the worlds most deadly diseases.

After the discovery of LSD by Albert Hoffman and the first "psychedelic revolution" of the late 1960's. The government cracked down on research with the controlled substances act of 1970. We thus entered a long dark period with rogue experimenters in peoples basements, deserts and burning man festivals. Now again, after getting permission to revisit the compounds in 2000, Johns Hopkins is leading studies pitting psychedelics against depression, alcoholism, and addiction with some incredible results. Furthermore, private funding is pouring into new psychadelic research centers across the globe...we take a look under the hood at this new scientific endeavor.

85% of the ocean floor has never been explored and we have more detailed maps of mars then we do of the ocean. To help rectify this, we dive deep, literally, to discuss some of the many barely understood phenomenons lying miles beneath the surface of the waves.

The elixir of life, the fountain of youth, the holy grail...immortality! many have sought and dreamed of such a cure to aging and life's woes. However, this fantasy is starting to merge quickly with reality as scientists the world over have re-focused their attention on several species of flatworms known colloquially as planaria (the same one used to demonstrate regeneration in your eight grade science class.) These simple and unassuming worms hold some amazing adaptations and may just hold the key to living forever.
