n the midst of the current Presidential race, it comes to light how many of us have already picked a side and tuned the other side out. We look at the other side and often our underlying assumptions get in the way of us being able to see the possibility for common ground and partnership in order to have things turn out differently. On major issues like gun control or abortion, people are so strongly opposed that it simply leaves us at a standstill and separated from each other – we go into our automatic taking away the possibility of being able to more forward powerfully as an entire nation.

This Week’s topic: Addiction: Confronting The Problem & Breaking the Cycle

The Dudes make the case that we are all addicted to something and that they form very deep patterns in our brains and souls that are hard to disrupt. For some, the addictions may be socially acceptable, like going to the gym, working, using social media and others may be less noticeable such as eating disorders or watchingpornography. While other addictions have more visibility, such as alcohol or drug abuse.

Regardless of the addiction, these addictions have an impact on us and to those around us…and they impact the results that we are able to generate. Like any other pattern that gets formed, they are deeply embedded in our brains. So how do we break these patterns when we are responding to our surroundings in the automatic and with the justifications around our addictions?

Joining the Dudes in studio this week is Stephanie D'Ambra, senior staff psychotherapist and the assistant director of The DiMele Center for Psychotherapy. Stephanie will discuss the science behind addictions and compulsions and how we can begin to overcome and disrupt them.

This Week: Inspiring Others: What's getting in the way of your ability to move others into action?

At every turn in our personal or professional lives, it’s important to get people to align with our ideas and to get them inspired to take action on things that need to get done. Whether you work in sales, own a business, manage people, work in a team environment or simply need your husband to take out the garbage or your kid to clean their room, there’s a certain art in the ability to inspire others. If you’re falling short, there’s an opportunity to take a look at why, because mastering the skill of enrolling others can be your game changer.

This week's show feature's Anisa Romero, interior designer, artist and musician talking about the reunion of her band, Sky Cries Mary. The band is doing 2 shows in their hometown of Seattle to raise money to help their bandmate Joe's battle with cancer. Anisa also happens to be the "girlfriend" of Nick that we have been hearing about for months. Having her in-studio provided some entertaining moments, and she surprised us by agreeing to sing a bit as well.
