When we have to use airquotes for "Head Coach"... there is certainly more to the story that needs to be told! We welcome in dear friend of the podcast Adam Moseley, who served as the pitching coach this past fall for the Gold Medal-winning USA Baseball 18U National Team and - up to this season - was the head coach at prominent Hoover High School in Alabama. Short version: the high school athletic association saw his tenure with USA Baseball as an infraction and the 2023 season finds Mose watching Hoover Baseball from the parking lot. The long version: You have to tune into this episode for this story and much more from one of the best pitching minds in baseball and one of the best dudes in our games!
We are back this week with an interview for the ages! Yes, the content is that good... But it's also the lengths that we are willing to go to bring you 'Certified Audio Gold'!! Have to listen in to fully understand... Just wait until you hear from University of Washington assistant coach Billy Boyer as he joins us in the Dugout. One of the best teachers of baseball in our game, Billy unpacks his transition back to college baseball from the professional ranks and how the staff at UW are working (and winning!) to bring an unique environment for their players! So much inside this one!

Everyone needs a friend like Coach Haire... Instant value and so good, we needed a Round 2 with this guy - the head coach at Campbell University joins us on air again! Love connecting with Justin as he continues to build one of the premier "mid major" programs as this week, the Camels check in at #19 in the country and off to a 12-3 start. We open up on being Dads but quickly swerve into offensive baseball, what CU is doing to (at time of airing) lead the country in On Base % plus ranked 7th in Runs per game at 10.7! We talk training environment, philosophies and so much more on this one!

Out of misfortune comes opportunity and a new spinoff segment is born with our first 'Views from the Top Step' perspective from our host Coach Sheets! This installment goes in deep on "Loving Your People" from the players we are called to coach down through our support staffs, umpires and yes, even other coaches. Looking at all of the various groups inside of and involved with our coaching, we hope that this week's conversations causes each of us to pause for reflection on if we are truly bringing "Love" to the ballpark and back into our homes!
This week, we tap into the mental side of performance with one of the best in the business - Dr. Bhrett McCabe! A couple of National Championships from his playing days pushed Bhrett to pursue clinical psychology which has turned him into the trusted consultant for Alabama Athletics & countless PGA and LPGA tour professionals. Inside this episode, We get Bhrett to uncover some of the easy parallels between baseball and golf, the simple connection to what we do we on the field with the term "performance", the anxieties and stressors surrounding our athletes plus his very passionate call for the coaching crisis that we are in and how our best is needed now more than ever!

It is always a pleasure to connect with phenomenal people inside this game - It's even better when they are first year head coaches! Absolute treat to bring on Gregg Wallis, the new head coach at Grand Canyon University, fresh off his first weekend in the dugout at the man calling the shots! Love this episode and the opportunity to shine a light on a young star in this profession but it is Gregg's humility, vulnerability and genuine spirit that comes right through the speakers. Amazing convo on where GCU has come from and where it is going under his watch plus insight into how Gregg is working through his change in roles, relationships with his guys plus areas that he wants to improve on this season!
Be prepared to laugh on this one! One of the most genuine folks in our sports & one of the most successful - Brandon Elliott, the head softball coach at Virginia Wesleyan stops by and joins the show! With three National Championships under his belt, it feels like Brandon & the Marlins are just getting warmed up... We unpack some of the cultural elements inside his program like #outlove and "Yo!" texts plus how vulnerability has impacted the relationships within his dugout. And one of the best follows on social media, especially during the summer months, as we discuss the origin and continuation of Brandon's "Recruiting Logs" which will keep you in stitches!

Back this week on the baseball side of things and connecting with another National Championship coach - the head coach at Ole Miss and the NCAA Division I champs from a year ago, Mike Bianco stops by and joins the show! An amazing conversation as we start by telling some great Skip Bertman stories followed by great insight in the process of building the Ole Miss program. Coach Bianco shows unmatched vulnerability in unpacking his own journey and growth in coaching along with how social media and access have opened doors for his program there in Oxford!

This one is SPECIAL. We welcome in legendary UCLA softball coach Sue Enquist and we are already calling for a follow-up episode... But that's what happens when you get 11 National Championships on the line and someone is living out her life's mission to impact other people! Sue is so dynamic as she uncovers her quest to stay disciplined with curiosity, how her ego got in her way at various points in her career, the important pivot to transformational leadership plus she details her unique "failure recovery system" for our listeners. Another 'take feverish notes' show, it is hard to stay with all of the dimes dropped by Sue on this one!

This week's episode finds us touching down in SEC country and in College Station, Texas with one of the most successful head coaches in college baseball today - Texas A&M head coach Jim Schlossnagle joins the show! Unpacking some of the details inside the trail of success that seems to always follow Schloss, we break down his clear focus on putting the best coaching staff together that he can, his consistent attention to living in a championship culture and environment plus the tireless efforts to recruit talent but also developing those guys under his watch. We talk SEC baseball and the grind inside this league plus some very transparent thoughts on our growth in coaching and keeping relationships with our players at the forefront!
