This week’s show finds us connecting with a special guest and one of the smartest people in our baseball community, period. Kyle Boddy stops by to chat about his work at Driveline Baseball but also his new role with the Cincinnati Reds as Director of Pitching Initiatives. A multi-topic show where we talk his journey in baseball, the creation and evolution of Driveline plus his insight into employee development, incentivizing and customer service elements of the Driveline business. We then spend time on the professional side of the baseball with the influx of development coaches moving into the minor and major league levels and how Kyle already has and plans to continue to challenge the traditional model of the coordinator role with MLB clubs. We definitely get a glimpse into where the Reds are going and Kyle delivers an efficient and effective interview for us!
This episode is an Infield Coach's dream as we deliver to our listeners two of the very best teachers inside baseball on the same show! Trent Mongero from Glynn Academy in GA and Nate Trosky from Trosky Baseball bring us over 2.5 hours of conversation and you will not believe how much Certified Audio Gold is within this interview. Notes galore will be needed as we walk all angles of infield play with these master coaches, discussing what separates the elite from the pack to the 6th tool and mental makeup plus we uncover a new grading scale that will help coaches and players grade their teams.
This episode finds us catching up with Darren Fenster, who currently serves as the Outfield & Baserunning Coordinator for the Boston Red Sox and recently awarded as the 2019 USA Baseball Coach Educator of the Year. An interview packed with tremendous takeaways, Fenster takes our listeners through his path inside the game which led him to his current role with the Red Sox plus the passion he holds for teaching and sharing knowledge to help others. Bring pen and paper with you as Fens details the specific fundamentals he teaches across several areas of the game and lays out outstanding insight for coaches and players!
With our first podcast episode, we swung for the fences and locked down two stars in their own respects.
Tim Corbin joins our show as arguably the top college baseball coach in the country, boasting three College World Series appearances in the past six seasons bringing the National Championship trophy back in Nashville in 2014 and this past June in 2019.
Walker Buehler, a former standout and 1st round draft pick at Vanderbilt under Corbs, has emerged as one of the top talents on the mound inside Major League Baseball, earning his place on the All-Star team this past summer.
The connection between these two is so strong and we walk right into Walker's recruitment and development at Vandy plus we open up on their journeys, challenges and how they see the current state of baseball on the professional and college levels.
