The word 'Dukh' means a hardship or ailment, or suffering, causing a pain. The word 'Bhanjani' means destroyer or crusher; hence the phrase "Dukh Bhanjani" means "Destroyer of Pain". All the shabads in this composition are composed by Guru Arjan Dev Ji.
