Many Christians are dull of hearing. They can’t or won’t concentrate and focus on learning God’s Word. “We have many things to say, but they are hard to be uttered, seeing that you are dull of hearing” (Heb 5:11). You can become dull of hearing from a lack of exercise in your mind. You develop your faith by hearing God’s Word taught and applying it. “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God” (Rom 10:17). Spiritual growth takes time and concentration. Your pastor’s job is to equip you so that you can be spiritually autonomous and stand alone on God’s Word. Jesus Christ tells us, “Take My yoke and learn from Me. My yoke is easy, and My burden is light” (Matt 11:29-30). You can’t do this if you are dull of hearing.
