Former state senator Justin Eichorn faces a five-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to attempted possession of child pornography, stemming from messages he sent to an undercover officer he believed was a teen. Prosecutors argue his actions showed reckless disregard for children’s safety, seeking lifetime supervised release with strict internet restrictions. Defense attorneys push back, calling the sentence excessive and claiming no actual harm occurred, while also arguing Eichorn should only serve time already served plus five years of supervised release — even requesting unsupervised contact with his own kids. The case underscores how online misconduct can trigger severe legal consequences, with sentencing set for September 23rd.
