Denis Villaneuve's extravaganzic DUNE crushes the scope and visuals, but could use a bit more blood in its veins.  It raises the question of whether this adaptation could be fairly imperfect but still impossible to improve upon.  Guest Alex Ricciardi, producer of a documentary about a visionary madman's earlier attempt at adapting the material,  is on hand to talk us through such conundrums and contradictions.
