Dungeons 'n' Durags

We got two new shows to cover, which means twice as many reasons to go off on tangents! This week, David from our sister show, The Lorehounds, joins to discuss Vision Quest episodes 1 and 2. Then, after he bails because of bedtime, the Usual Suspects stay to discuss the first episode of Carrie. We’re sure you’ve probably already watched everyone else’s full-season review, but trust us, you’ll always be entertained by our coverage.

We plan to cover two episodes a week, and if we have time to spare at the end, we’ll throw in some commentary about VisionQuest (assuming any of us have watched it, because generally speaking, we’re just not feelin’ it.)

Now that Lanterns is done, we are giving you this little holdover where Edu, Javon, and I discuss the Drama. You know how much he LOVES that movie (JK). Also, a quick announcement about the next shows we'll cover on the podcast.

Until next week, enjoy.

Welp! That was definitely a show. Temu Lanterns. Unnecessary plot lines. Never-seen-again characters (And those we wish we never saw in the first place. Looking at YOU, Maggie.) As you might expect, the fellas have a whirlwind of thoughts and feelings about the finale and this season of LANTERNS in general. Will there be a season 2? (Edu is not holding his breath.) However you feel about the show and this finale, you're sure to have plenty of laughs with our recap. As usual, don't bother watching if you want a deep, introspective breakdown. These are just four bruthas shootin' the sh*t about a superhero show (er, I mean, a gritty and grounded crime drama).

Let us know what you'd like us to discuss next. Email the fellas at [email protected]

Welp! You knew the fellas were gonna have a lot to say about this episode. From John's full-blown transformation to "Jules" from Pulp Fiction, to the apparent string-pasta-thin budget, the boys wanna know: how many of these 24 got-damn mystery boxes are we gonna get solved in one episode? Demon Lindelof strikes again.

Is it our imagination, or is John getting and sounding blacker? Is Kerry after that John D? And how many mystery boxes is Damon Lindelof going to drop in this show and never answer? The fellas discuss these and all the usual tangents.

Nzinga is back to join the fellas, share her theories, and help Ron cope with how lame this Manhunter seems. Aren't they supposed to be one of the most formidable opponents to the Lantern Corps? This Manhunter isn't a Lantern-level threat. Hell. It's not even a Batman-level threat. Have Nightwing take care of it. As Edu says, the last three episodes better be "The Wire"-level good.

WE KNEW IT! Or rather, we had a good idea that you-know-who would be a Manhunter. All the usual hilarity ensues as we discuss this episode and the revelations made. Including JD falling victim to that interdimensional box again, and Aaron Pierre quite possibly did a Google search to figure out how to talk "American Black."

Given the themes of being Black in 'murica, you know the fellas were gonna have a lot to say, and that Ron, at some point (if not multiple points), would take some ish.

Also this week, we're joined by Jean G. Jr. from the fellow Lorehounds podcast Comics Vs. You can find it wherever you listen to podcasts. Here's the show link:

Edu is back to join the fellas and explain why he is concerned about the series' future. Spoiler alert: it has to do with Damon Lindelof. Also, we get the usual comical tangents, including the possible origin of Ron's first black card. All this and more.

The fellas are back with a new show. HBO's Lanterns Season 1 Episode 1 is on the chopping block, with special guest star David Erickson from The Lorehounds. Is the show as good as the comics? How close is it to the comics? And how many times can Ron put his foot in his mouth in one episode? All this and more.
