They always tell you how the medicine works on TV in the commercials.

That’s my favorite part, with the guy that says:

“Here’s the human body” and there’s always this guy…

No face, mouth open, this is how drug companies see the public.

He’s always got the tube coming down here

    and then the circle area.

These are the complex inner workings of the human body, I assume.

I’m sure, when you go to the medical school,

they put that up on the board the first day

“Ok, everyone, now remember, you got your tube coming down from the mouth”

“and that goes into your circle area.”

    Recap
    Cold Open

Scully recaps the past 23 years, which is an extended version of the Super Bowl preview.

Scully’s narrated intro is a nice bookend to the season. Mulder’s narrated intro in My Struggle I was similar but ended up focusing on aliens; Scully’s was similar, but with new information learned this season, ended with a conspiracy of powerful men not aliens.

    Intro
    Run 1

Scully walks into work to discover Mulder is not there. She sits at his desk and opens his laptop to find Tad O’Mally. She watches some of the video until Tad calls her, asking her to come to Mulder’s house, which has probably seen better days.
Cut to Scully, Einstein and Skinner talking about Mulder’s disappearance and Tad’s claims. Einstein brought some tude with her.
Skullinstein are walking through the hospital with the name that never fails to inspire hope: Our Lady of Sorrows… When they come across a guy with a bit of an arm issue.
Cut to Mulder driving while very tired. He looks in about the same shape as his house. His phone rings, he picks it up, ignores it, sees he’s rockin a 40 percent charge and speeds up to go find a charger.

Question: How low do you let your phone charge get to before panic sets in? Answer: 40 percent
Question: Not knowing how the rest of this episode plays out, did you think Mulder went on a drunken rampage, or was possibly listening to dubstep music? Answer: Yes and yes.

    Run 2

Skullinstein are in the lab drawing blood and talking about the possibility of everyone’s DNA being tampered with.
Miller walks in and says, “people are freaking out, man!” They all tune into another Tad video, where he is talking about a global contagion. Scully realizes what is actually happening: immune systems are being compromised, opening everyone up to all kinds of diseases.
A passed out Mulder awakes only to ignore a call from Scully and realize his charge is now down to 30 percent! Luckily, there’s enough charge left for Miller to use the ‘find a phone’ app on Mulder’s computer.
Skullinstein continue bickering over whether this contagion is happening or not. Scully gets a call from Reyes.

    Run 3

Scully and Reyes meet up and have a most awkward kiss on the cheek. Reyes then drops some truth bombs on Scully.
She tells a story about what happened after season 9. The Cigarette Smoking Man summons Reyes to his hospital bed. He’s seen better days. He recruits her to help him smoke cigarettes, and maybe a little more….

    * We pick up from the last half season’s stinger with Darrel, Sasha, and (my new favorite character) Action Flick Abraham being confronted by the Sons of Anarchy. The leader of this chapter, Greasy Will Forte, tells the crew that their property belongs to Neagan and that they seem like the type of folks that Neagan would want to get to know. Greasy Will Forte plays it pretty cas’ whilst taking the crew’s firearms. He comes to not-so-cas’ Abraham and gives him the age old advice of, “If you’re going to eat shit, it’s best not to nibble. Bite, chew, swallow, repeat. Goes quicker,” which is the exact same advice I give my Valentine every year. The crew is going to go on a road trip to meet Neagan, but not until “T” takes Darrel to ensure that there isn’t more to plunder in the rig. He tells him to start inside the back bumper and work their way to the front. We then get a glimpse of Greasy Will Forte’s other side. Apparently, it’s customary to kill one peep in a group that they encounter to set precedence. There’s a bally-who back and forth about whether or not he’s going to kill someone, until he decides that he will indeed. That’s when he gets an RPG to the face. Turns out, Darrel and T were fighting to the death behind the truck, Darrel got the upper-hand, and then managed to grab the launcher, ammo and load it without anyone noticing.

    * An RPG isn’t exactly the most pin-point accurate weapon. I feel that Darrel was playing fast and loose with Sash’s and Abe’s lives.

    * Action Flick Abe’s trash-talking the exploded head of Greasy Will Forte with the line, “Nibble on that.”

    The Long Walk

    * Back from commercial break we get treated to a bevy of nasty looking walkers as Rick, Carl, Jessie, Sam, Ron, Gabriel, and Michone make their way through. If you recall, they had masked themselves with walker guts and were trying to get to the armory, but Rick calls an audible when he realizes that the situation is FUBAR and a few guns won’t get the job done. Rick wants to get everyone back to the quarry to grab some vehicles and try out the cattle drive method once again. Jessie rightly suggests that a baby going that far and back might prove troublesome, so Father Gabriel offers to take the little ass-kicker to his church for safe keeping. Jessie offers up Sam for Father Gabe’s walking buddy, but Sam is having none of it. As Gabe saunters off with Judith, Rick gives a longing look that says, “I just killed my baby.”

    * Jessie’s hair looks amazing.

    * Carl takes Ron’s hands.

    * So, Tara is adamant that she, ‘Sita, and Eugene  go after McWolvin. If you recall, there were these crazy peeps that invaded Alexandria and Morgan took one as a pet only to have it get out and take Denise (the nurse) hostage. Rosita quickly rattles off the numerous reasons why going out there would be a terrible idea. First a machete class and now well thought out and practical reasons for not risking the lives of everyone. Rosita is on a roll. Carol comes to and wants Rosita’s gun to do a sweep. Morgan comes to it’s revealed to the unconscious collective that McWolvin took Denise on a little excursion.

    * There’s a lot of back and forth between two sets here. So, I’ll address them individually:

Shiraz is praying and eating and driving. He eyes a couple ladies. He shoots them a smile, they look him up and down and disregard him. Local bumpkin, and his 2 cousins (who he’s probably dating) pull up next to him and revs his engine. They begin making racist comments that you’d normally hear at a Trump rally. Then then drive off to attend a Trump rally. Shiraz picks up terror buddy, Kellogg. They drive to an art gallery, enter, and blow it up. The explosion is massive and yet there are people running around on fire?…

Question: Are schools doing enough to teach proper “stop, drop and roll” technique. Are we failing these kids?
Shiraz shows signs of not being that into the cause. He smiles at the girls, listening to dubstep in the car when he’s alone, then switching it to traditional terrorist music when his friend is with him.

    Intro
    s1

We open with Sculder in their office doing what they do best: arguing over something spooky. Mulder is arguing that, in the video they are watching, god might be blowing his horn and Scully is refuting all his claims. Agent Miller knocks at the door, asking if anyone is down there and Scully answers “nobody but the FBI’s most unwanted.” Mulder shoots her a look and she says, “i’ve been waiting 23 years to say that.” Miller and Einstein, or Millinstein, enter the room and have a conversation with Sculder. These two are Sculder’s doppelgangers from 23 years ago.

Question: Do Mulder and Scully actually believe in the side they are arguing, or at this point, do they just enjoy the exercise? Answer: They enjoy the exercise.
Question: Was Scully as mean to Mulder as Einstein is to Miller? Answer: No.

    s2

Millinstein are at the airport discussing Sculder, why they work the x-files, why they work with each other when Miller gets a call from Scully. She wants to help Miller communicate with the terrorist. Einstein gets a call from Mulder. He wants to help her communicate with the terrorist. Miller heads to Texas and Einstein heads to Mulder’s office. We cut to a scene of a terrorist making bombs.

Great Quote: Newscasters – It’s just a painting. Yeah. Of Mohammed sitting on a toilet defecating radical Islamists!
Question: Are Mulder and Scully trying to hook up with each other’s younger, attractive doppelgangers? Answer: Maybe…

    * We open with phase 1 of Operation: Fiscal Cleansing, which is the homeless being bombarded by dues with a massive super-soaker. It’s then that we get what might as well be labeled, “MURDERER’S MASSIVE TRUCK OF DEATH AND GARBAGE AND MORE DEATH” roll up outside the operation’s organizer. He dials for help, but it’s to no avail as the assailant bursts in and “disarms’ captain 1% before compacting him in the garbage truck of super-death.

    Roll Credits
    Run 1:

    * CSI: Lame-town are taking pics and we get informed that they called the FBI due to the “spooky” nature of the crime. Jesus, Scully looks good. The dynamic duo is informed that there are no footprints, but Mulder states that it’s impossible to be born without footprints. So, it turns out that just the arms are missing and the head is in the trash can. Scully cunningly deciphers that the vic was torn apart whilst receiving calls from William…Scully Jr, her brother. Turns out that her mum is in the ICU due to a heart attack. Mulder dismisses her, but seriously misses her. He looks as if he really wants to console her, but he doesn’t feel that it’s his place anymore.
    * Mulder views some video surveillance that leads him to believe that Banksy saw the crime while he was putting up some depressing, yet super-meaningful, art on a billboard across the street. It’s “Street art” of Jeffrey Tambour looking longingly at nothing. Mulder steps on a disgusting band-aide and holds it over for evidence?
    * Mulder arrives to see that her mother (Margaret) is on some sort of breathing assistance apparatus, to find out that Margs only wanted “Charlie” in her moment of consciousness, her estranged youngest son. Dana issues some comforting words, but she gets hung up on “William is here”. Obviously, Scully is totes talking about her bruv, but meaning her son.

    Run 2:

    * Mulder rolls out demanding that he have access to the building with access to the Bluth patriarch’s likeness billboard, only to discover two terrible community actors running though the lines of the world’s only play regarding homelessness versus the murder of a city figurehead (seriously…they were awful).  Mulder mediates while being told about the threat of homeless people. One homeless peep speaks up stating that “the band-aide knows”. Mulder’s curiosity is peaked.
    * We get the moment that Scully alluded to earlier regarding her brush with a coma. She uncovers Marg’s personal artifacts, one of which is a quarter that’s been turned into a pendant. “Bill” calls and his on his way from Frankfort (presumably Germany). Bill is a bit of an arse, requesting a status update on whether or not mom would be worm food by the time he arrived from the country that has no history between 1933 and 1945.
    * We cut to Mulder in a super sciencey room with an even more super-sciency man in a lab coat telling him that there are neither organic nor inorganic materials present in the band-aide.
    * Back to Scully, we find out that Marg’s was serious about her “adva...

    Recap

Intro – Stoner 1 and Stoner 2 are huffing gold spray paint under the largest full moon EVER. “Do you ever think life is so amazing,” one of them asks, “that maybe we shouldn’t waste it by getting high all the time?” He says no he thinks about being a werewolf. She asks “what would you do if you were a werewolf?” He says, “…get high.” They come upon what they see as an attack by some type of spike covered monster. The monster freaks out, runs past the couple off into the woods. The man who was being attached is fine but not the guy before him. Unable to ‘deal,’ the huffing man goes for another swig of goldspray paint.

Easter Egg: in the teaser sequence previously appeared in a pair of season-three X-Files episodes: “War of the Coprophages” (also written by Morgan) and “Quagmire” (which Morgan did an uncredited rewrite on).

Mulder is sitting in the x-files office throwing pencils at what turns out to be Scully’s “i want to believe poster.” He is reflecting on old cases and how they have all been explained reasonably. He says he’s middle-aged and isn’t sure he wants to spend the rest of his life chasing monsters. Scully then comically says they have a new case involving a monster. Mulder flings another pencil at the poster.

Easter Egg: Usually he throws them into the ceiling (the first episode where that happened was the killer-doll episode “Chinga,” from season five, co-written by Stephen King). Here, Mulder throws his No. 2s like darts at the “I Want to Believe” poster.

Mulder is going full Downer Dan in the woods with Scully. He’s refusing to believe in a monster. He blames it on mountain lion, a grey wolf. “Maybe he was attacked by a lion a tiger or a bear. Maybe all at the same time. that’s how i want to go”
The creature attacks a hookerman. Hookerman says, “i told the officers he slithered off that way… but they think i’m on crack.” To that Mulder says “are you?…” Hookerman says with a large amount of sass, “yeeeeaaaa!”
Mulder and Scully approach and scare the animal control guy. they hear a noise and go off chasing it. The animal control guy runs the opposite direction. Mulder is hysterically trying to figure out his new camera app. They then begin yet another Benny-Hill style chase scene, Mulder’s camera flashing the entire time. The chase ends when the monster CLEARLY runs into a portapotty. Mulder and Scully open the door to find a flabbergasted man. They walk away to keep looking as the brit is revealed to the audience as the monster .

Easter Egg (Meh): The agents first come across Guy Mann in a Porta Potty, which I like to think is a reference to a scene in the classic season-two episode “The Host...
