Today I sit across from an individual that grew up in a historic part of Riverside, CA. Casa Blanca isn't the easiest place to grow up, but this next guest didnt let that stop him from what he had to do to make a better future for his family. He joined the IBEW and went through the 5 year Apprenticeship and became a Journeyman Inside Wireman, which completely changed the trajectory of his life. No easy feat for anyone. Let's welcome our next guest Lalo Meixueiro
Our guest today is a treasure in everybody's life that she has entered, she has been an instructor to many including myself. She has been a lady Union Electrician for 45 years. Dealing with us for that long deserves a medal itself. No introduction could ever do her years of service any amount of justice, for her actions throughout her career have proved her monumental devotion to our IBEW. Thank you for everything you and your family have done to get us where we are today. There has been many sacrifices made that you probably have never spoken of and for that I would like to say thank you.
Everybody please welcome our very own Laura Vergeront to the show.
Jeremy Forshaw everybody, We go through his career from Apprentice to current Business Manager of Local 440 and what that journey looked like from the man himself.
Usually on this podcast, we sit down with the men who put on the hard hat, grab their tools, and go out into the field to make a living as Inside Wiremen in the IBEW.
But today, I want to tell a different side of that story.
On today's episode we are going to go over local 440s inside agreement. I would like to mention for those that don't know, each locals inside agreement will be different in certain ways, so when you go work in a different jurisdiction it's good practice to get a copy of their agreement and read it. With that being said Good morning and thank you gentleman for being here.
Our guest today completed the 5 year Inside Wireman Apprenticeship, earned the title Journeyman Inside Wireman, went on to serve our local as an organizer, assistant Business Manager, business manager, and eventually went on to the International Office. Everybody please welcome Jim Rush to the podcast. Welcome Jim.
This is a special episode i decided to do in honor of Labor Day and for those that came before and after us. Also for the men and women that have dedicated or gave their life for the working conditions that I have today.
We hear from 4th year Apprentice David Cornejo and his path going thru the Apprenticeship so far, then getting into a motorcycle accident, his recovery, and getting back into the field and working, all while being a husband and a father. Proud of you my brother.
In this episode we get to hear from my Mother and what the last 30 years have been like being married to an IBEW Traveler. As my father would say the ups and downs and the smiles and frowns.
Double and I discuss his journey as an Officer in the Union, and it was definitely a great and must listen to conversation.
