Claire:Hi, everyone~

Nick:5 Minutes’ with AOPA China is a brand new podcast which will give you thenewest hot topic weekly in aviation, especially general aviation at home andabroad.

Claire:That’s right. 5 Minutes’ with AOPA China is produced by international affairsdept, made by Nick and Claire, sent to you by AOPA China. I’m sure you willenjoy listening to our short show.

Nick:Yes. For the first ever episode, I can’t wait to start with the content.Claire, have you seen the movie Captain Sully? Captain Sully saved the lives ofall passengers aboard in the case of aircraft malfunction during flight.

Claire:Yeah, Liu Chuanjian(刘传建), the captain of Flight 3U8633, is praisedas China’s captain sully. He heroically saved more than 100 passengers and crewmembers on the flight on May 14thwhen the windshield on theco-pilot side in the cockpit shattered at a cruising altitude of 32,000 feet.

Nick:That’s really frightening, isn’t it?

Claire:Itis. As the windshield broke and blew out, the cockpit lost pressure. Theco-pilot was nearly sucked out from the plane with only his seat belt savinghim.

Nick:Guys always keep your seat belt fastened during the flight. So what happened tothe windshield? Is it because of the quality of the windshield?

Claire:Itcould be one of the possibilities, but even the windshield is proper, it stillcould break. During the flight, as the outside temperature is very low, windshields usually need to be heated. But if it is heated unevenly orencounters short circuit, the windshield may experience intensity change andbreak due to difference of the pressure inside and outside the cabin. Theaccident is still under investigation. I will not jump into any conclusions.Let’s wait for the official investigation report from the authority. And forthis matter, we also need to thank the unsang Heros of the whole aviationsystem. Like the Cabin attendants, Air Traffic Controllers, the ground staffand many more, you name them.

Nick:That is true. No wonder aviation safety is the top priority in aviationindustry.

Claire:Exactly. AOPA China, also pays much attention to it. Aviation safety needs tobe addressed to every sector of aviation industry and to the public as well. Wehave been making great efforts in it. For UAS pilots, we organize training toensure that they are aware of the aviation system and flight plan applicationand they need to be qualified to operate the aircraft. We educate them with theaviation rules and provisions.

Nick:Yeah, every year we also hold International flight training Exhibition whichfocuses on flight training in China. Foreign experts and representatives areinvited to share experience and network with each other. We also organizelectures and summer camps at intervals to educate and reach out aviation ABCsand encourage more and more people understand aviation and even to embraceaviation.

Claire:5 minutes’ with AOPA China will update these meetings and gathering and hope tomeet you during our events. We’ll talk about airshow, pilot stories, and evendecipher regulations. I am sure your will enjoy the show.
