Mat pretends he’s a hard ass, but attempts to help one of a swarm of refugees and later swings from a stable loft to defend a stranger in the dark. The encounter is illuminating and spurs Thom and Mat on their way to Caemlyn.  Perrin arrives in Illian and while the presence of wolves feels uncomfortably distant, he’s got an entirely different canine problem to occupy his mind.  Moiraine defends their party with forbidden magic against an unexpected enemy and once again the pull of the Dragon pulls them west.
