E11: Is it Time to Choose Your Hard... or Easy?

Listen Later

Choose your hard, move the needle, let’s f*&king go, yadda yadda yadda!   So many powerful statements that can kick us into action, but do they?

The concept of choosing your hard means making a sacrifice to do something that could be hard to do, but in return it will decrease the existing ‘hard’ of your life, so basically it’s easier than the consequences of not doing it or sticking with the same.     Basically we make choices in life that will either pay dividends or cost dividends.

So in this week’s podcast I’ll take you through a couple of examples of my own scenarios to explain what this means in practice, even when I got diagnosed with Cancer!

But, what if life is already hard, you’re already in disarray and chronic overwhelm, then the term ‘choose your hard’ could feel even more overwhelming when actually what  we need to do is take care of ourselves without making life harder!     Also, if something is a huge challenge of will power then if we reframe it, it might increase our chances of actually making it.

So how about we choose our easy instead?

If you want the preamble then listen from the start but if you want to get to the ‘choose your easy’ guidance, then skip to about 14 minutes in.   From this point I’ll introduce you to the concept of being a 'budd-ass' and give some high level overview on goal setting both from a ‘choose your hard’ perspective or from a ‘choose your easy’ perspective.  From a choose your easy perspective I’ll introduce you to micro movements so that by the end of the year those tiny steps add up to one pretty big leap.   Basically, wherever we are in life we have to move forward (or at least try to avoid going backwards) but it’s okay to do it to your own rhythm.
