In August 2019, PC Andrew Harper and his colleague Andrew Shaw responded to the call of a burglary in West Berkshire, England, despite the fact they were already finishing their shift.

Going beyond the call of duty was nothing unusual for these hardworking professionals—but this time, the decision to do overtime came at a terrible cost. Once the night ended, only one of the officers returned home.
