E15: Surviving the Squeeze at Walden CC: Fighting the Driver & Finding a Silver Lining
On this episode, I’m giving you an unvarnished review of my recent round at Walden Country Club in Crofton, Maryland—and I'm bringing the scorecard with me. I carded a 105, and on a tight, unforgiving track like Walden, this round was a masterclass in how quickly things can get away from you when you're battling fatigue.
I break down the layout and conditions and get completely honest about my struggles off the tee. When the driver isn't behaving on a narrow course, you're playing defense on every single hole.
But even on a triple-digit day, there were major bright spots. I’m celebrating a massive breakthrough in a zone that usually strikes fear into amateur players: the sand. I dig into why I'm finally feeling comfortable and confident when hitting out of green-side bunkers, and how that part of my game kept this tough round from spinning even further out of control.
Finally, I'm getting transparent about the physical toll of the game. After months of heavy practice, testing, and logging consistent rounds, the baseline fatigue has caught up, and it absolutely showed up in my swing mechanics. I talk about the importance of listening to your body, knowing when to rest, and why taking a breather is a crucial part of long-term progress.
