The armed wing of Hamas has declared that any harm inflicted on their people without prior warning would be met with the execution of captive civilians, with reports suggesting that at least 100 people have been taken hostage. Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to bring destruction upon Hamas-controlled areas, prompting concern from the United Nations regarding potential violations of humanitarian law. Netanyahu asserts that while Israel did not initiate this war, they are determined to bring it to an end. "Israel is currently engaged in a conflict that we were unwillingly thrust into, in the most brutal and savage manner. Despite not instigating this war, Israel is wholly committed to its resolution," commented the prime minister.
