E2 IELTS

Missed Band 7 in just one section of IELTS? You may not have to sit the whole test again.

IELTS One Skill Retake lets you retake one skill (Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking) within 60 days of your original computer-delivered test, keep your original scores for the other three, and have your overall band recalculated. In this video, Bailey with E2 walks through the three gates that decide whether it will actually work for you, including the acceptance rule that catches Canadian PR applicants out and a brand-new delivery mode rule no one is talking about.

FREE download: The 60-Day One Skill Retake Planner (PDF)
The three gates, a date calculator so you know your real deadline, a diagnostic to find the skill that actually let you down, and the exact questions to ask your test centre.

Your IELTS General Training letter probably sounds too formal, and it’s costing you marks in Task Achievement. In this video, Bailey breaks down the E2 4-Move Letter: an adaptable shape for the informal letter that reaches Band 8, applied live to two completely different prompts so you can see it flex. No memorised openings, because those are exactly what stops working in 2026.

In this video you’ll learn:
• Why “formal” and “high-level” are not the same thing in General Training Task 1
• The four moves that structure any informal letter, whatever the prompt asks
• Why every bullet needs one specific invented detail, and why inventing it is allowed
• Two complete Band 8 model letters, written out in full • Why contractions are correct in an informal letter, and wrong almost everywhere else in IELTS
• The three habits that tell a marker instantly your register is off

This is IELTS General Training Writing Task 1. If you are sitting IELTS Academic, your Task 1 is a chart or process description instead, and that video is coming.
