You’re Not for Everyone

E.24. Understanding Socially Awkward People

Listen Later

Text Jackie!!!

Social awkwardness comes in many different forms and intensity. Intense discomfort in response to social situations can look like:  over talking, shyness, over sharing, not reading social cues, avoiding social outings, lack of eye contact, no reciprocity of emotion, & lack of expression.  Jackie encourages you to understand that people's social awkwardness could be a result of trauma, abuse, mental illness, being on the spectrum as well as from bullying & humiliation.  Upon learning the reasons behind social awkwardness, the hope is that people will be more compassionate and kind when interacting with socially awkward people.

This podcast is a combination of Jackie's clinical insight as well as her wisdom & life experience gained from years of mentoring, coaching & counseling.
