E4 Mindset and its impact on our lives and performance with Samantha Jackson
In this episode I speak with my dear friend, Samantha Jackson. With over two decades of experience across the military, aviation, technology, health, and research domains, she is a psychologist, organizational coach, and human factors professional who has a new business, Undercurrent.
We cover mindset - being a set of beliefs and attitudes that affect an individual's approach to life and how they perceive and approach challenges and opportunities.
We discuss two types of mindset: fixed mindset and growth mindset. A fixed mindset sees challenges as obstacles and doesn't want to pursue goals while a growth mindset sees opportunities as opportunities to grow. They emphasize the importance of understanding why someone might be in a fixed or negative mindset and identifying it.
We cover topics such as:
- What does it mean to have a fixed or growth mindset
- How to shift a fixed mindset to a growth mindset
- How do we work with others with the opposite mindset
- Are we triggering a particular mindset in others around us
- How to kindly tell someone they have a fixed mindset
- Is there a connection between a fixed mindset and those days and a lack of motivation
- How do we reframe limiting beliefs in ourselves to push forward
