E55 30 most 伤仲永 under 30

Listen Later

Hi everyone, we are back! This is one of our few English episodes. We invited our friend, Toast, who has been doing very interesting research on global high school education, trying to discern which high school experiences have major impacts on our lives.
We talked about elite, exam-oriented education and events that happened in our high schools. In addition, we discussed college admissions in the US and China and our thoughts on education equity.
The New Yorker recently had a “30 Most Disappointing Under 30” list which we found interesting because both of us felt we peaked in high school and have been struggling since. 伤仲永 is an ancient Chinese prose that tells a similar story.
Hope you enjoy this episode and have a great week!
