• The beauty of long-term relationships is having a life buddy whose mind and opinions you value, offering a completely different perspective on the world—so you get to experience life through two viewpoints.
• The goal is to end up in a relationship with someone who fascinates you and who you continue to be curious about.
• Picking a partner for life means you'll always have a second perspective on the world, a second trusted opinion on a problem or scenario, and together you can link arms and come up with a plan or solution that's better than what you would come up with individually.
• In a relationship, you don’t want to compromise; you want to negotiate.
• Relationships don’t typically start because of fascination with the other person; they start because of attachment.
• Sex: sometimes you’re totally into it, sometimes you take one for the team, and sometimes you have to TRY to get into it. And try you should!
• You will not have a sustainable relationship if you’re only thinking about yourself.
• You can’t have love without respect, and you can’t have respect without trust.
• The expectations I have for my relationship is that the transparency I have with my girlfriends is the bare minimum of the transparency that should be allowed in your relationship.
• It is part of growing up to learn to sit with uncomfortable feelings and to do things for the sake of another’s happiness.
• Small issues should be discussed but not made into huge issues.
