E89: In Defense of My Free Range Face

Listen Later

In this episode I talk about something I’ve been thinking about for years: what happens when we freeze those expressions with Botox.

Research shows that Botox doesn’t just change how we look — it can actually mute our ability to fully feel certain emotions and can make it harder for children to learn emotional intelligence by watching our faces.

I’m not here to shame anyone who chooses Botox. I get the pressure. But this is exactly why I’ve decided to keep my free-range face — lines, creases, and all.

Because my face isn’t broken. It’s a map of a life fully lived. And in a world that’s becoming more filtered and AI-perfect every day, I want my face to stay a real, honest instrument of connection.

This is part of my Empress energy: choosing to be more fully human instead of trying to look forever young.

If you’ve ever stood in front of the mirror and felt that tug of “maybe I should fix this,” this episode is for you.

What do you think? Have you noticed this in yourself or with the kids around you? Send me a voice note — I read every single one.
