As a man thinks in his heart part 5 1. The way you think determines how you feel. 2. The way you feel determines your choices you make. 3. The choices you make will determine your actions. 4. Your actions will determine the habits you create 5. The habits you create will determine your character. 6. Your character will determine your destination. God has given us the information we need for everything in life. The instruction manual for life is the Bible. Whenever you feel there is something you do not understand go back to the beginning of that particular issue. Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. As one who reckons, he says to you, eat and drink, yet his heart is not with you but is grudging the cost. QUESTIONS: 1. Where do my thoughts come from? 2. Can I control them? 3. Should I control them? 4. How do they affect my relationship with Christ? Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. A. Adam and Eve saw themselves in the image of God. 1. When they started to see themselves from their perspective, they no longer saw themselves as God saw them. 2. They allowed new information to enter their hearts which contaminated the Word of God. 3. Selfishness will always cancel FAITH. COLOSSIANS 3:10 And have clothed yourselves with the new [spiritual self], which is [ever in the process of being] renewed and remolded into [fuller and more perfect knowledge upon] knowledge after the image (the likeness) of Him Who created it. ROMANS 8:5-8 5 For those who are according to the flesh and are controlled by its unholy desires set their minds on and pursue those things which gratify the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit and are controlled by the desires of the Spirit set their minds on and seek those things which gratify the [Holy] Spirit. 6. Now the mind of the flesh [which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit] is death [death that comprises all the miseries arising from sin, both here and hereafter]. But the mind of the [Holy] Spirit is life and [soul] peace [both now and forever]. 7. [That is] because the mind of the flesh [with its carnal thoughts and purposes] is hostile to God, for it does not submit itself to God’s Law; indeed it cannot. 8 So then those who are living the life of the flesh [catering to the appetites and impulses of their carnal nature] cannot please or satisfy God, or be acceptable to Him. WOMAN WITH THE ISSUE OF BLOOD. LUKE 8:43 Healing was already there but she had to see herself in a different perspective. 1. Not a victim 2. She removed all obstacles 3. She said within herself 4. She saw what she said, which caused her to move toward what she saw. 5. She no longer saw herself sick, she saw herself healed and made whole.
