  • Hey, an Actor: Nicolas Cage
Every now and then, an actor with a considerable filmography, undeniable charisma, and a cult of personality arrives to test the mettle of The Brothers Wilson. This month, Hey, an Actor! profiles the inimitable Academy Award-winning Nicolas Cage, who is also Ghost Rider. Pandy's homework of acclaimed drama Leaving Las Vegas sees him ask fraternal questions about alcoholism, whilst Ian weighs up the historical merit of Jerry Bruckheimer's National Treasure for the very first time. And at the insistence of Reverend Organ, the brothers also take in the stylized action nonsense of Drive Angry. Even though there is potentially a hiatus in store, as one of the hosts prepares for fatherhood, the episode closes on not only a Pandy Parody, but the extended version of Ian's history of the creation of Nicolas Cage, with the assistance of cult 1970s singers.

  • Dread Media - Episode 421
This week reality crashed down on your intrepid host, as he's ill with The Throatpocalypse. But Des soldiered through this episode, as Dread Media takes a look at reality on film. First, in the documentary realm, Chris joins Desmond to take a look at the follow-up to the legendary Room 237: The Nightmare. Then Duane joins Desmond to look at the sometimes-interesting, but mostly misguided Killer Legends. Then Desmond goes solo on three found-footage films: Inner Demons, Always Watching, and The Night Visitor. Of course, there are some tunes: "Nightmare be thy Name" by Mercyful Fate, "Someone Else's Nightmare" by Early Man, "Tears of a Clown" by Iron Maiden, "Reality" by Voivod, and "Deep Down" by Mondo Cane. • Dread Media - Episode 420
In a bid to catch up on film reviews, we're dealing with the screeners that built up during the latter half of Apocalyptic August. There is a slew of diverse films being covered this week. First up, Duane and Desmond review the Belgian feral child film, Cub. Then Rich the Monster Movie Kid reviews The Serpent and the Rainbow in tribute to the late Wes Craven. Then Desmond sits down for a marathon review of seven films that he has recently seen: The Treatment, Call Girl of Cthulhu, The Summer House, Extraterrestrial, Lost After Dark, K-11, and Rock N' Roll Frankenstein. There's also a particularly diverse selection of songs this week: "Blood of a Young Wolf" by Buck 65, "Intro & Credits" by Steve Moore, "Voodoo Medicine Man" by Aerosmith, "Vices" by Slayer, and " Lovecraft in Brooklyn" by The Mountain Goats. • Dread Media - Episode 419
This week we celebrate eight years of Dread Media! We pay tribute at the top of the show to Wes Craven. Then Darryll and Desmond review what could be considered the spiritual successor to Craven's signature film: It Follows. Rich the Monster Movie Kid does his best to lessen the amount of times he says the name of the subject film in his review of Sssssss from 1973. There's tunes as well: "Main Title (from A Nightmare on Elm Street)" by Charles Bernstein, "Search & Destroy" by Iggy & The Stooges, "Waiting for the Snake" by Motorhead, and "Cast the First Stone" by Slayer. RIP Wes Craven. Send feedback to: [email protected], or 206.278.5257. Follow @DevilDinosaurJr and @dreadmedia on Twitter! Join the Facebook group! • Dread Media - Episode 418
It's the end of the month celebrating the end of the world! We started Apocalyptic August with an Australian Apocalypse film and we're ending it with another one, but a different one this time. Chris and Desmond review the relatively new Guy Pearce / Robert Pattinson vehicle: Rover. Rich the Monster Movie Kid takes a look at one of three TV movies Gene Roddenberry had a hand in in the 1970s: Planet Earth. Not to mention that Desmond forgot a Top 5 last week, so this week he gives you two! First up, a look at his Top 5 Apocalyptic Television Shows, and then he ends the show with a selection of his Top 5 Apocalyptic Songs. Strap and and hang around with us until the light takes you! Songs: "The Chase" by The Doomriders, "The Very Wild Rover" by Cruachan, "Planet Earth" by Duran Duran, and "It's Only the End of the World" by Harley Poe.
