Earth-2.net Presents...

Viola Davis is our featured actor this episode. The Queen of Righteous Indignation reigns supreme across the covered films in the form of two August Wilson (no relation) play adaptations: Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and Fences, and the big budget anti-racism tale The Help. The Brothers Wilson discuss her undeniably powerful presence in her work, as well as accidentally spoiling lots of plot details that have driven Pandy to despair in the edit. Plus: What did The Brothers make of Chadwick Boseman's swansong performance? Why is Pandy the victor? And, why is Ian part of the problem?

This week, Canadian Desmond and his cohost Tom from New York discuss the iconic Canadian slasher film Curtains. Then Desmond goes solo on a Dread Media Top 5 Canadian Slasher Films and plays mostly music from Canadian artists. Songs included: "Cut the Curtains" by Billy Talent, "Hooks in You" by Iron Maiden, "My Bloody Valentine" by The Browns, and "Drawing Curtains" by Buck 65. Send feedback to: [email protected]. Zini the Incel Lemur, Audrey Hepburn in Iguanodon form, and the sassy black Styracosaurus are just a few of the memorable characters Christian, Donovan, and newcomer-to-the-show Harrison Chute encounter as they endure Dinosaur - one of Disney animation's most underwhelming and poorly titled offerings. (NOTE: The next episode won't come out till late September. Feel free to feed back in the meantime at the Earth-2.net forums or at [email protected].)

The journey from fresh-faced, innocent newcomer to crumpled-up has-been is a fixture of song and story from time immemorial. The library's copy of the Edda was checked out, though, so instead we focused on two ends of the music industry: 2001's Josie and The Pussycats, and 1984's This is Spinal Tap. One was way better than anyone remembered. The other was exactly as good as everyone remembers.

Having not learned his Rumble Fish lesson, our hero spends six months with uncle Frank making The Cotton Club. Cage plays trumpet player Richard Gere's brother with gangster ambitions. The shoot was miserable, and the movie is interesting to talk about. Ha ha! Join Bryan and Desmond as they reckon with this movie.

This week, Desmond and Duane watch two families become friends on vacation and then something else in the Danish / Dutch co-production Speak No Evil. Turns out, it's kind of the perfect Des / Duane movie, so then Desmond goes solo on a Dread Media Top 5 Previously Reviewed Des / Duane Movies About Vacation. Songs included: "Holiday" by Duff McKagan, "Got Your Tongue" by Me and That Man featuring Chris Georgiadis, "Vacation" by Devin Townsend, and "See No Evil" by Ghost. We pulled an audible this week when we heard the legendary BBC presenter Sir Michael Parkinson passed away because we had his contribution to horror culture already reviewed and ready. So this week, Tom and Desmond talk all about the BBC special presentation that terrified a generation of Brits: Ghostwatch. Then Desmond goes solo on a Dread Media Top 5 Scariest British Film. Songs included: "When Death Comes Crawling" by End Reign, "My Head Is Full of Ghosts" by Bad Religion, "Gravestones & Coffins" by Kataklysm, and "Soul Remnants" by Outer Heaven. RIP Sir Michael Parkinson. Send feedback to: [email protected]. Follow @DevilDinosaurJr and @dreadmedia on Twitter! Join the Facebook group! Support the show at www.patreon.com/dreadmedia. From benevolent spring sprites to (rightly) cancelled conductors, Maestro Christian and Maestra Emma traverse the brisk yet beautiful Fantasia 2000!

There's nothing we enjoy more than taking a deep dive into the WWE's long and storied history of self-mythologization. Remember when Hulk Hogan tried to act? Find it as adorable as we did as we tackle 1989's No Holds Barred! After that, we're gonna see if this Florence Pugh person might be someone to keep an eye on with 2019's Fighting with My Family!

More info here: http://www.buffalodreamsfantasticfilmfestival.com. Songs included: "Tomorrow's Dream" by Black Sabbath, "All I have To Do is Dream" by Dandy Warhols, and "Dream in Motion" by Kirk Windstein. Send feedback to: [email protected].
