This week on Dread Media, we thought it appropriate to end 2020 with a discussion on suffering. As such, our old friend Sezin Koehler and our new friend Paula Ashe join Desmond to go in-depth on Pascal Laugier's Martyrs. This is a spoiler-filled, hour-long discussion of the themes, brutality, and possible ending of the film. And there's even a little glimmer of hope. So make sure you've watched it before listening. Songs: "Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr" by Trivium, "Your Witness" by Seppuku Paradigm, and "This Year" by Mountain Goats. Send feedback to: [email protected]. Doug Furnas and Phil LaFon's run on Shtogun continues in a match that the ring simply could not contain. Meanwhile, on Monday Night Raw, there's a special Christmas episode, and Shawn Michaels is in a very giving mood as he is forced to defend the European Championship against HHH. Kellen and Tom review Shawn's championship history in despair.

Between tangents on the Disney shareholders meeting, Scooby-Doo, American Pie spin-offs, and what makes a Christmas movie, Skyler and Will find time to talk about Home Alone: The Holiday Heist. It has guilt trips, Malcolm McDowell, and a potentially drunk former Lou Grant cast member.

Fresh off the scratching post in a French peasant's blockade: it's 2020's Hey, an Actor! Christmas Special! In accordance with tradition, the December Director is Tom Hooper and The Brothers Wilson sink their teeth into two of his high-profile adaptations of musicals. First, 2012's Les Miserables, and then 2019's Cats. Questions answered include: Whose were Pandy's first pair of filmic breasts? Which brother prefers a CGI abomination to a depressing French romp? And, what of all the musical offerings was chosen to end the episode? If that wasn't enough, there's also the Tomlinson Awards, a small selection of outtakes, and a lot of feedback fun. Merry Christmas, y'all!

Happy Holidays from us here at Dread Media. This Christmas episode was cobbled together kind of last minute, but it turned out to be a great episode featuring several contributors! Finally, Tom Deja looks at the brand new crazy Christmas Grindhouse film Fatman. Christmas Carols included: "No Presents for Christmas" by Two Minutes to Late Night, "I'd Like You For Christmas" by Julie London, "Merry Christmas" by Bonnie Tyler, "Jingle Hell" by Christopher Lee, and "Silent Night, Deadly Night (acoustic)" by The Browns. A much-delayed Hey, an Actor sees The Brothers Wilson take on some choice entries of the filmography of the groundbreaking stand-up comedian and actor Richard Pryor. Both hosts experience Brewster's Millions for the first time, whilst Pandy nominates one of Pryor's many collaborations with the great Gene Wilder in See No Evil, Hear No Evil, and Ian finally allows a comic book movie to be covered on HAA via Superman III. We also deliver a mea culpa from Ian (RE: the podcast's delay), gain Evie Wilson's familiarity with the DC Universe, and, in a first for the podcast, announce the subject of our End of Year special (to be recorded very soon).
