Earth-2.net Presents...

This week on Dread Media, we get a little weird. First up, Tom and Desmond discuss Private Parts. No, not the Howard Stern film; it's a bizarre thriller from 1972. Then, Tom goes solo on (take a deep breath, Des), The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies. Yes, that's the title. Music included: "Knife in the Dark" by Void Realm, "When a Man Dies a Woman" by Amen, "Funhouse Mirrors" by Cash Flagg, and "Painful Reminder" by SNFU. RIP Mr. Chi Pig! In 1981, legendary television producer Stephen J. Cannell unleashed his vision of a superhero TV program upon the world: The Greatest American Hero! Listen as Dan and Mike wax lyrical about the first two episodes ("The Greatest American Hero" and "The Hit Car"), gush about the force of nature that is FBI Special Agent Bill Maxwell, reveal what iconic role series lead William Katt nearly received, and talk about the strange connection the show has to the attempted assassination of President Reagan.

This week on Dread Media, the local crew returns after an outdoor viewing of the feel-good hit of the summer: The Platform. Join myself, Brittney, Jeff, Scott, and the first appearance of mostly silent Stacy as we spoil the hell out of this Spanish political horror masterpiece. Then, I go solo on Paul von Stoetzel's short film adaptation The Curse of Yig. Songs included: "Prison Song" by System of a Down, "Kick the Chair" by Megadeth, "Yig Snake Daddy" by The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets, and "Unsolved Mysteries" by Natur. On Week 46, Vince McMahon sits down with Jim Ross to say "Bret screwed Bret." How will Kellen and Tom side on the matter? (If you've listened to us before you probably know.) Meanwhile, The Rock and Stone Cold continue to make each other's acquaintance, and Rick Rude manages to be in two places at once.

Dan and Mike return to Earth-2-in-1, but this time they jump way ahead to speak about Golden Age Batman and Disco Thing in The Brave and The Bold #167 and Marvel Two-in-One #68.

This week on Dread Media, we go back to the old standard: the zom-com! Only, we've got something a little different this time. First up, it's not quite a zombie movie and not quite a comedy, but The Dead Don't Die is definitely a Jim Jarmusch film as Tom and Desmond discover. Then, Desmond goes solo on a Dread Media Top 5 Obscure Zom-Coms! Of course, there are tunes: "Summah Starved Zombies" by Howard Kremer, "The Dead Don't Die" by Sturgill Simpson, "My Boyfriend's Back" by Raveonettes, and "Like the Dead Would Laugh" by Deadboy and The Elephantmen. This week on Dread Media, a double feature of short reviews by Desmond and Duane. First up, a man seemingly alone in a desert tries to get home while dealing with a malevolent talk radio show and a mysterious red light in the sky in Sam Was Here. And in Cold Hell, a Turkish immigrant in Germany kicks all kinds of ass in her search for justice after witnessing a murder. Songs included: "Alone" by Suicidal Tendencies, "You Always Walk Alone" by Helloween, "Living Witness" by Dry Kill Logic, and "Through Chaos and Solitude I Came..." by Woods of Ypres. This week on Dread Media, we celebrate episode 669 with a focus on erotic horror. Get it? Anyway, first up, Darryll and Desmond take a look at the sexy cosmic horror film Harvest Lake. Then, Desmond delivers a Dread Media Top 5 of best erotic horror films. The songs included are either sexy or not. Your mileage may vary: "Sex and Death" by Motorhead, "Surfin' THC" by Cool Mutants, "Erotic Nights of the Living Dead" by Gost, and "Archie and Veronica" by Lovage.
