Earth-2.net Presents...

Adam, Jeff, and Scott join me for a funny / nihilistic splatter-punk double feature. First up, a Dread Media revisit of the amazing Rutger Hauer film Hobo with a Shotgun. Then, a film I've always wanted to rewatch for the podcast but never got around to. Well, now I've gotten around to it: John Gulager's Feast. Send feedback to: [email protected]. To prevent World War III, Laurie must convince Jon Earth is worth saving.

Renowned Shakespearean actor, gay rights pioneer, and family friend of the hosts, the final actor for The Year of the Rings is none other than Sir Ian McKellen. The Brothers Wilson try to save time by reviewing both Gods and Monsters and Mr. Holmes, which are basically the same film, as well as capping of the Tolkien adaptations with their coverage of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Along the way there are discussions of various iterations of Sherlock Holmes, Jeff Goldblum impersonators, the strategic port of Dover, and rock frontmen reading bedtime stories. Listen now so you can vote in the 2019 Tomlinson Awards!

On the final week before Survivor Series, we see surprisingly little of champion Bret Hart while Shawn Michaels takes on Ken Shamrock. Ahmed Johnson begins (and ends) his quest for revenge against Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Vader stoops to desperate levels to find a last-second replacement for an injured member of Team USA.

This week, get gothic with us as Desmond and Tom review the wildly feverish Ken Russell film Gothic. Then Tom pays tribute to the late character actor Michael J Pollard with a review of the under-appreciated 1980s gem American Gothic. Of course, there are some gothic tunes: "Fantasmagoria" and "The Devil is an Englishman" by Thomas Dolby, "American Gothic" by The Cult, and "Gothica" by The Dead Elvi. Dave and Ian return for another two episodes of Crazyhead. In "Shave the Cat," Suzanne has returned from the dead and isn't the woman she used to be. Raquel, Amy, and Jake take her somewhere remote in search of a cure cure, and Raquel makes a new friend while searching for a phone signal. In "Penguin or Cow," Amy and Raquel confront Mercy while trying to find the kidnapped Suzanne. She is being held captive by Callum who intends to use her to take Amy out of the picture once and for all. They also discuss the correct posture to adopt if you ever see Ian in a pet shop, and discover that their previous edition has caught the attention of one of the cast's mothers.

Prison break!

This week on Dread Media, Darryll and Desmond dig into the classic grimy slice of small-town crime, River's Edge. Besides the tight script, the incredible cast and acting, and killer soundtrack, it's just a really beautifully dark film. Then, Desmond goes solo on a Dread Media Top 5 of heavy metal dirtbag films. Songs include all but one tune from the feature review's soundtrack: "Die by the Sword" by Slayer, "River Below" by Billy Talent, "Lethal Tendencies" by Hallows Eve, and "Kyrie Eleison" by Fates Warning.
