On Sunday we began Binge the Bible: Season 2 with this truth:

If we don’t retell God’s story, we’ll forget the Savior at the center of it.

Now, let’s think about that. Every one of us is living inside some kind of story. Modern secular culture says the story is: you’re an accident of atoms, so write your own meaning. The problem? If you’re just an accident, meaning is something you invent, not something you can trust. That’s shaky ground to build a life on.

Psalm 78 reminds us that God’s story is different. It’s not myth, it’s memory. It’s anchored in events, an exodus, a covenant, a Messiah who stepped into history. Forgetting that story isn’t like forgetting where you parked your car; it’s like forgetting who you are. And when you forget who you are, you’ll let someone else define you.

That’s why retelling matters. We’re all curators of memory. If we don’t hand our kids God’s story, the culture will gladly hand them another—one that says they’re accidents of biology, or that happiness is found in consuming more. But those scripts leave people restless. Only the gospel gives a story that is both true enough to satisfy the mind and strong enough to heal the heart.

That’s how remembering works. It’s how faith gets transferred, not just taught.

On Sunday we ended our When in Doubt series with Paul’s words to Timothy: “All Scripture is God-breathed and useful… so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16–17)

Here’s a thought I didn’t get to share: our culture often treats truth like a playlist—you just add or skip depending on your mood. But Paul insists truth isn’t curated by us, it’s breathed by God. Which means the Bible isn’t just one voice among many competing for attention; it is the voice that makes sense of all the others. If we sideline it, we don’t just lose information—we lose orientation.

That’s why Paul pictures Scripture as equipping us, like a soldier with armor or a ship with supplies. You and I are not sent into Monday empty-handed. God has given us His Word as a compass that cuts through the spin, the noise, and the deception. And the more we steep ourselves in it, the more it points us beyond itself—to Jesus, the Word made flesh.

This Sunday, we discovered that when in doubt, we need to trade venting for lamenting. Venting only releases steam, but lament takes our pain vertical to God. Think of it as the difference between yelling at a wall and speaking to a Father—one just echoes back, the other listens and responds.

What stands out in Habakkuk’s story is that lament doesn’t deny reality—it wrestles with it in God’s presence. Habakkuk names violence, injustice, and unanswered prayer, but he refuses to walk away. He stations himself on the wall, waiting for God’s word (Habakkuk 2:1). That’s where faith grows: in the silence that feels like nothing is happening, God is shaping us into people who live not by sight but by faith.

This week, don’t stop at venting—bring your raw honesty to the One who can carry it.

This Sunday we looked at the story of Thomas in John 20—the disciple often remembered for his doubts. But what if doubt isn’t the enemy of faith? What if it can actually be the doorway?

Thomas needed more than words; he needed evidence. And Jesus didn’t shame him for that—He met Thomas right in his doubts and invited him closer: “Put your finger here… Do not disbelieve, but believe.”

That same Jesus still meets us in our questions today. Certainty isn’t required for faith. Instead, we build our lives on the evidence of Christ’s resurrection. We don’t live with 100% certainty in anything—not doctors, not pilots, not even the chair we sit in. We live by trust in the evidence before us. And Jesus offers the greatest evidence of all: His scars and His resurrection.

So as you step into this week, don’t run from your doubts. Bring them to Jesus. Like Thomas, you may find that your hardest questions lead to your deepest faith.
