This Week: At the inaugural Innovate Cambridge summit in 2023, a partnership between Innovate Cambridge and the University of Manchester was unveiled. Now, with the 2024 Innovate Cambridge summit less than a week away, Eastern Promise is on the ground in Manchester, talking to Lou Cordwell OBE and John Holden of the University of Manchester.
Lou and John will be sharing their view of the opportunities and potential contained within this collaboration. They'll also demonstrate that the two cities' differences on paper are dwarfed by the commonalities. It's a must-listen if you want tot understand the scope and the potential bound within this project, and special thanks must go to: Lou & John, Lisa Gledhill & Kelly Burnham for all their help with logistics; to Kathryn Chapman, Executive Director of Innovate Cambridge for her help and the guest appearance; and to Cambridge Ahead CEO Dan Thorp, and Milner Therapeutics Institute and Connect:Health-Tech's Paula Rogers-Brown for assisting with my preparations and their general encouragement.

This Week: We're back from our Summer break with a bang, as a panel of the East of England's top experts in commercialising innovation discuss the potential, the pitfalls and the possibilities, all through the prism of the Triple Chasm model, co-developed by our first guest, Uday Phadke.
Kathryn Chapman has been a guide and mentor to many disrupters seeking to cross the three chasms to successful commercialisation in her time as Director of Science and Innovation at the Babraham Research Campus (since the recording, Kathryn has moved to become full-time Executive Director of Innovate Cambridge).
James Fry, meanwhile, leads on life sciences for full-service law firm and 'friends of the show', Mills & Reeve. There truly could not be a better panel.

AN EASTERN PROMISE SPECIAL! Recorded on Day 1 of the 2024 Royal Norfolk Show, this special takes us around the STEMM Village, chats with VIPs, talks to educators and energy gurus and generally has a whale of a time!
This year, Dr Penny Hundleby of the John Innes Centre joins Mike Rigby on a tour of the show and this year, we focus on the STEMM Village and the magnificent people within...BUT! We also bump into more across the showground.
Unfortunately, there was a fault on the microphone which means the audio wasn't as good as it could have been. However, it's been cleaned up and worked on as much as possible so you at least get to share in the amazing happenings at the 2024 Royal Norfolk Show!
