Tonight, we discuss the current status of the civil rights movement. We will discuss the real, tragic events of Fruitvale Station that happened in real life. We looked at The Hate U Give and see how that movie portrays racial tension in society not just between cops and african-American communities but also between upper-class caucasian and low-class African-Americans.
Tonight, we watch two films. Indestructible is about a man who is suffering from ALS, Ben Byer records himself throughout his final years of his life. This movie hits home for one of our members. The second movie is one of the opposite which most don't sympathize with as the man would sleep in grizzly country getting dangerously close to the bears.
Tonight, we look at two movies that depict war, specifically WWII. Casablanca was a film that was created during WWII and is seen as a classic film from that era. The film takes place in French Morocco not Madagascar as was said in the podcast. The second is and probably will continue to be a classic which is Saving Private Ryan by Steven Spielberg. This film depicts most of the true nature of soldiers in war. It follows one squad as they look for a man name Private Ryan to return him home.
Tonight we discuss two movies that show information that is normally hidden from the public. In The Cove, we learn of a cover-up in Japan where all people are in it killing and selling dolphin meat as other types even though it is actually Dolphin meat. The second movie hits home in the USA and Canada as we learn the lack of care for killer whales and trainers by Sea World and a former Canadian company called Sealand.
Here we dive into two films that look at people who have disabilities and how they interact and live, giving us another perspective of life that we may not have realized or have seen before.
Listen to us discuss these two psychological thrillers that will make you question yourself on what is real and what isn't in the film.
Join us as we discuss the way these two well known 70's films address society whether it be with people who are Gay to every little thing like in Blazing saddles.
