What would you do if you had one last day on earth? You would think Belshazzar would humble himself when he sees the end is near but pride is more intoxicating than strong drink. Even when the wicked are warned they still shake their fist at God.

When our faith is challenged is God able to save us from imminent danger? God ultimately rewards those who trust in Him to make His name and His work known.

The world under human kingdoms is a dark place in need of hope. God reveals to Daniel, Nebuchadnezzar and to us that the greatest hope we could ever have is this: God is really God and everything is going His way.

Do you ever feel like you would be better once your circumstances were? God's sovereignty displayed in the book of Daniel gives us faith and hope that we can flourish what ever circumstances we are found in.

When the world is turned upside down, how are the believers supposed to keep calm and carry on? Jeremiah makes it clear to the remnant of Judea who are living in fear that trusting in God is never optional if you are to be the covenant people.

I would like to note three corrections that need to be pointed out in my sermon:

1. Locution does in fact mean the meaning of words in a particular culture

2. Illocution refers to the way words are formed and transformed through different genre like poetry or narrative

3. Mizpah that is referred to in the text is most likely the one in Benjamin's territory and not the one located in Gilead on the East of the Jordan

The main work of ecclēsia is to build up the body of Christ by the consistent teaching of the Bible, book-by-book, chapter-by-chapter, verse-by-verse. The worship is simple, focusing on exalting the Lord.

What does it mean to be blessed? What are the messages of the beatitudes? How can I be God's salt and light to the world?

We tend to dismiss idolatry because we think only of those who have visible forms of idols. This is still part of our world, and it is amazing that people in our modern times have been just as foolish and idolatrous as were the pagans in ancient days.

Who do you say Jesus is? As we come to the conclusion of Mark's gospel are you convinced the Jesus is a servant for humanity unlike any other. A Saviour of the soul and the express image of Son of God. There is no one like Jesus.
