  • Finding Contentment Under the Sun (Ecclesiastes 4:1-16)

If someone was to ask you, "What is the meaning of life?" What would you say? I almost wonder if this is the new diagnostic question to begin our dialogue with non believers. The reason is because the question is so telling as to what someone cherishes. When we ask this as a Christian we can ask things like what sorts of things can we appreciate? What things should we see as honorable things? What does the preacher of life tell us about finding contentment in this age? If you are curious about these questions please stay tuned to our sermon titled, "Finding Contentment Under the Sun."

  • The Problem of Justice (Ecclesiastes 3:15-21)

The preacher in Ecclesiastes notices that there is wickedness in the place of justice. Does this mean that God has turned his back on this creation? Does this mean that there is no righteousness or justice at all in this life? Does God know that there is injustice? Why would God allow this injustice to continue? If you are curious about these questions please stay tuned to our sermon titled, "The Problem of Justice."

  • Perfect Timing (Ecclesiastes 3:1-15)

When people quote philosophers or secular wisdom we can be encouraged, and there might be things that we can glean from them in our day to day lives. When we think of Biblical wisdom sometimes we are tempted to think that Biblical wisdom operates in the same way as worldly wisdom meaning that it is timeless and applies to all the same way. For instance, the poem in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 was used in a song by the Byrds. Is this merely some timeless philosophy or is there something distinctive in this poem dealing with the different seasons of life? Please stay tuned to our sermon titled, "Perfect Timing."

  • Is There Any Joy in this Life? (Ecclesiastes 2:12-26)

So, the preacher has been looking high and low to find wisdom under the sun. This quest has not been working all that well for him. If it is true, that all under the sun is vanity, then why go to work? Why would we want to continue to live? Why not contemplate one’s suicide to exit this earth in greatness? What does the preacher say that allows us to see that not everything in this life is meaningless? Please stay tuned to our sermon titled, "Is There Any Joy in this Life?"

  • The Wisdom of Selfishness (Ecclesiastes 2:1-11)

There is always the temptation to think that preachers who caution people away from worldly living are those who just have not tasted the best of the world. What does the preacher of Ecclesiastes tell us about the world after tasting the best of the world? Does the world offer more than Christianity? Or does the world exaggerate its allure? Please stay tuned to our sermon titled, "Is it Wise to Be Selfish?"
