It's been a minute f'sure, BUT 'Echoes From The Void!' #EFTV is back with the goodness!!!

We're slightly off pest today, as it's all about the literary legend, Franz Kafka! Did you know that 6th June 2024 was the 100 year anniversary of his death (3rd July 1883 — 3rd June 1924)? I didn't, but smarter people did, and so we have a new limited TV series about the man's life.

'Kafka' is directed by David Schalko, who co-wrote with Daniel Kehlmann based upon Reiner Stach book trilogy, 'Kafka – Die Jahre der Entscheidungen', 'Kafka – Die Jahre der Erkenntnis' & 'Kafka. Die frühen Jahre'. The story of Franz Kafka’s (Joel Basman) life from different perspectives. Presenting his difficult relationship with his domineering father Hermann (Nicholas Ofczarek), his deep friendship with Max Brod (David Kross) and his various love affairs.

Now, this film / short isn't actually screening today, but it was so good, inventive, and meaningful, we had to hit you with a feature. Especially when Kelli McNeil-Yellen had a hook-up for a sit-down with the inventive mind behind the work! And what a layered & rich discussion it was, obviously we talked about the making of the film, but also touch upon subjects like sustainability, climate change, corporate manipulation, and collaboration. 'Story Of The Sun' is written & directed by Phillip Gladkov, and narrated by Tsukuru Fors. This is the first stop-motion animation in the world made entirely from birch bark. It shares the tale of how the first humans discovered fire, changing the world forever. It’s especially meaningful that this film is made from birch bark—a material used for starting fires since the Neanderthal era.

It's a movie for both children and adults, and filled with humor, valuable lessons, and emotionally touching moments.

'Step Back, Doors Closing' is the feature directorial debut from Carter Ward, which he also wrote. This is a charming love story between Ryan (Reilly Walters) and Julisa (Carmen Berkeley), two young adults who long for authentic and emotionally intelligent relationships. After a chance encounter on the DC metro, they spend the next twenty-four hours discussing their hopes, dreams, and fears. We're getting all experimental with this new indie lo-fi horror / drama, which makes incredible use of colour & sound. THEN, we have the young lady who created the whole thing in the hot seat. We learn how she was able to get the different affects we see. Her journey to discovering her visual style, the relationship with she has with sleep, and a lot more!!! 'Nyctophobia' is the feature directorial debut from Seayoon Jeong, which he also wrote. Liz (Olivia Clari Nice) struggles with nyctophobia (fear of the dark), a form of anxiety disorder that causes sleeping issues. She desperately tries to fall asleep by entering her “inner world,” where she can access happy childhood memories. However, she becomes trapped in a time loop in her lucid dreams and encounters a nightmare, Dark Figure (Christopher Gilbert), who appears in various clown forms. The loop pushes her deeper into her dreams, forcing her to reach her subconscious, where she meets her worst nightmare: the original form of Dark Figure.

'Burns and Song' is a TV pilot written & directed by Tendayi Nyeke.
