EDDIE’s LAUNCHPADS

The final Launchpad episode of 2021. Eddie and Captain Dave welcome two of the greatest influencers on the life and learning of Dogsthorpe Infant School stars.

Al Kingsley, Chair of Hampton Academies Trust, Managing Director of NetSupport and author of 'My Secret EdTech Diary' shares how EdTech and digital citizenship plays such a vital role in children's and young people's learning across every school in the Trust. Al also shares how starting a child's learning journey with a 'Dream Believe Shine' approach leads on to a more focussed learning journey in Key Stage 2, 3, 4 and FE.  www.Twitter.com/AlKingsley_Edu www.Twitter.com/NetSupportGroup #Edtech #DigitalCitizenship #BETTShow

Becky Waters has been the headteacher of Dogsthorpe Infant School since 2015, having joined the school as a newly qualified teacher in 2001. She began her role as headteacher with the school having been identified by Ofsted as 'Requiring Improvement'. One year on from her appointment and after huge structural and managerial changes at the school,  Ofsted returned and reinstated Dogsthorpe Infant School as a good provider of education. Ofsted returned again four years later and said it continued to be a good school. In December 2020, Mrs Waters played an instrumental part in the school becoming an 'Academy Comverter' and Dogsthorpe Infant School joined Hampton Academies Trust. Mrs Waters reflects in this episode of 'LaunchPad' on the past year and the immense pressures placed upon schools and teachers throughout the pandemic. She also talks about Christmas 2021 and her hopes for 2022.

The fourth of five special festive Daily Launchpads.

Today, Eddie & Captain Dave take the Learning Journey to London to talk to the actor, musician and West End performer, Adam Pettit. He tells them about his memories of being a pupil at Dogsthorpe Infant School twenty years ago and how Dogsthorpe Infant School inspired him into becoming an actor and musician. Adam also shares his music on #Spotify and #Apple. Check out his single by asking your smart speaker to play, 'Nothing Else Matters by Adam Pettit'    www.twitter.com/ad_pettit

Eddie and Captain Dave then land in Wales to meet Mary Oliver MBE. Mary is a trustee for Therapy Dogs UK, an amazing charity that provides therapy dogs for schools, residential homes, hospitals and prisons. 'Ruby', the Dogsthorpe Infant School reading dog, (who listens whilst our children read stories to her) is a 'Therapy Dogs UK' dog. www.thearapydogsnationwide.org   www.Twitter.com/therapydogsuk
