Main idea: Jesus teaches that the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.

Main idea: Jesus’ call for sinners to follow him, rewrites conventional social norms and shatters the assumptions on who should enter the kingdom of God.

Main idea: Jesus has the authority to touch the untouchable,

to heal the unhealable, and to forgive the unforgivable.

Main Idea: Jesus doesn’t flee from sinners, but seeks disciples to save and send for the glory of God.

"Amazing Authority"

Luke 4:31-44

Main Idea: The sovereignty, power, and authority that Jesus displays is not for worldly show, but for proclaiming the kingdom of God.

1. Jesus Taught with Authority - v. 31-32

3. Jesus Healed with Authority - v. 38-41

4. Jesus’ Mission Statement - v. 42-44

Main Idea: Jesus, our Messiah, proclaims his mission to bring good news to the poor, liberty to the captives and sight to the blind. What we find here is that Jesus comes to his hometown and has an explosive meeting that will result in his expulsion from Nazareth.

Main idea: Through the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus overcomes Satan’s temptations, demonstrating his obedience and faithfulness to the Father. Jesus, relying on the Spirit, overcomes the temptations and declares that finally there will be One who can obey God in all things.
