This time, Thing 2 sleeps in the other room with the white noise generator (so that's the hiss in the background if you can hear it). Your erstwhile host is nursing a headache and a lack of caffeine, so lots of relaxing music and not much chat.

Another Monday morning podcast. Don't get to used to this - you know what happens when the Edinburgh Man Podcast starts to follow a schedule.

Thing 2 is down for a nap so just enough time to record and podcast before the first coffee of the day. Today many of the tracks are from releases that came out over the last couple of years. Why? I think Bandcamp have made some changes to their site so my special secret searches aren't just picking up new releases. This is good news, however, because some of these got missed the first time around.

Oh, and if you want to know why I'm rummaging in a box of cassettes (and one rogue minidisc) you'll need to listen to the show.

Good morning! How's about starting the week with an all new Edinburgh Man Podcast? Well, you've not really got a choice because here it is.

Taking the opportunity to record a show while the flat is empty, apart from a small child sleeping in the next room. Hopefully he'll remain asleep for the next 30 minutes of punk, garage rock and lo-fi folk. Plus enough time for me to make another pot of coffee.

The other week Dr Nic went out for the evening while I stayed at home looking after (sleeping) children. Scouring the house for booze I found this dusty bottle of Cointreau lurking at the back of the cupboard. Turns out that Cointreau and Tonic is a moderately acceptable drink. This evening, after recording the show I headed back to pour myself another, only to find that we were out of tonic! Neat Cointreau it is then... until... in the darkest recesses of the fridge I found some grapefruit beer. Yes. You heard. Chin-chin.

Hey there podcast listeners. Apologies for today's podcast. I recorded it last night but wasn't happy with it so needed to do a wee bit of editing. It's still below par (the music isn't, just my bits). I've been suffering from a load of headaches recently which is dragging me down somewhat. I recorded this show at a time when the painkillers were wearing off so my head was pretty sore and fuzzy. Hence the rather fuzzy and rambling chat. I know what you're thinking - what was your excuse before?

Anyway, great music from the new Fresh album (love those guys), Plastic Animals (from last years album but I was a bit bummed out missing their gig last week) and a cover of Audrey's Dance from Twin Peaks (no spoilers).

That's my phone in the photo accompanying tonight's podcast. Or rather that's my two phones... The large Samsung one took a dive into the toilet at the IKEA babychange room at the weekend, so it's currently drying out. The other one is my current replacement. A 2009 vintage iPhone 3GS which I've managed to send and receive text messages on... but very little works on it anymore. Isn't technological obsolescence wonderful? Anyway, hopefully after washing, cleaning with alchohol and a few more days drying out, the real phone will return to service. And hopefully the smell will have gone by then.
