According to a recent Russian Offensive Campaign update from the Institute for the Study of War, the Ukrainian counteroffensive northeast of Kharkiv City has likely forced Russian troops to redeploy to Kharkiv instead of reinforcing stalled Russian offensive operations elsewhere in eastern Ukraine. Russian forces are continuing their attempt to reach the administrative borders of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts but have not made substantial territorial gains since securing Popasna on May 7.

Beginning in July 2020, increased interest in levels of M&A activity resulted in the Bureau of Competition’s Premerger Notification Office (PNO) publishing monthly figures for Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) Act transactions. The latest monthly update from the PNO is for April 2022 and noted 230 reported transactions. This is the second-highest number of monthly reported transactions in the month of April between FY 2001 and FY 2022. However, it is lower than the reported April transactions in the previous fiscal year of 2021.
