In 1 Thessalonians chapter 2, Paul commends believers who are allowing the word of God to be "at work" in their lives. God's word is alive and active, and can bring about transformation in our lives.

When all indications would suggest otherwise, God refers to Gideon as a "mighty warrior." God doesn't see us for who we are, He sees us for who we can become with His power at work in us.

Paul opens up his first letter to the church in Thessalonica with words of affection, thanking God for their "work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ."
