Fossils are the preserved remains of creatures that lived long ago. But, just how long ago? According to evolutionary theory, the fossil record shows how life evolved over millions of years. According to the creation account, the fossil record was formed quickly during a worldwide flood. It would have buried sea creatures first and then eventually land creatures as well, accounting for the order we see in the fossil record. Earth only had one history, so which theory is correct?

Kevin’s guest on the show today is Dr. Marcus Ross. Dr. Ross is a paleontologist who teaches at Liberty University. Marcus Ross has loved paleontology (especially dinosaurs) since he was a kid growing up in Rhode Island.  He has continued pursuing this passion, currently researching about a group of extinct marine reptiles called mosasaurs.  He is greatly interested in issues surrounding the creation-evolution controversy and the intersection of geology with the Biblical events of creation and Noah’s Flood.

Dr. Ross believes that the evidence from geology and paleontology points to the truth of the creation account and the event of a worldwide flood and he’s here to tell you why. DNA holds many mysteries. It is the instruction book for all life on earth and is a complicated code that scientists are trying to unravel. But could it actually be used to prove whether the biblical story of Adam and Eve is historically accurate? Our guest Dr. Robert Carter believes this is so through the advancements in the analysis of mitochondrial DNA.

Dr. Carter obtained a BS in Applied Biology from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1992. He then spent four years teaching high school biology, chemistry, physics, and electronics before going to the University of Miami to obtain his Ph.D. in Marine Biology. He successfully completed this program in 2003 with a dissertation on “Cnidarian Fluorescent Proteins.” While in Miami, he studied the genetics of pigmentation in corals and other invertebrates, designed and built an aquaculture facility for Caribbean corals, performed well over 500 SCUBA dives, many of them at night, and licensed a spin-off product of his research (a patented fluorescent protein) to a biotech company.

How many times have you heard it said that virtually all scientists agree on the scientific validity of evolution? Not so! Kevin’s guest on the show today is Dr. James Tour. He is a Bible believing Christian who has serious doubts about evolutionary theory as it is today, not because of his faith, but because of science.

Dr. James Tour, a synthetic organic chemist, received his Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Syracuse University, his Ph.D. in synthetic organic and organometallic chemistry from Purdue University, and postdoctoral training in synthetic organic chemistry at the University of Wisconsin and Stanford University. After spending 11 years on the faculty of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of South Carolina, he joined the Center for Nanoscale Science and Technology at Rice University in 1999 where he is presently the T. T. and W. F. Chao Professor of Chemistry, Professor of Computer Science, and Professor of Materials Science and NanoEngineering. Tour’s scientific research areas include nanoelectronics, graphene electronics, silicon oxide electronics, and many other chemical and molecular technologies such as nanomachines which includes molecular motors and nanocars.

Tour has over 600 research publications and over 120 patents, with total citations over 69,000 (Google Scholar). Tour was named among “The 50 Most Influential Scientists in the World Today” by TheBestSchools.org in 2014, listed in “The World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds” by Thomson Reuters ScienceWatch.com in 2014 and recipient of the Trotter Prize in “Information, Complexity and Inference” in 2014. Tour was also named “Scientist of the Year” by R&D Magazine in 2013.

Kevin’s guest on the show today is Dan Barker. He is a Christian turned Atheist and is currently the co-president of the Freedom From Religion Foundation. Dan is a contributing editor of Freethought Today and is involved with the Foundation’s state/church lawsuits. He regularly gives lectures, performs concerts, and participates in debates with theists, often at college and university campuses.

Dan was a Christian preacher for 19 years. While preaching, he began to have questions on the validity of the Bible. Following five years of reading, Dan gradually outgrew his religious beliefs. “If I had limited myself to Christian authors, I’d still be a Christian today,” Dan says. “I just lost faith in faith.” He announced his atheism publicly in January, 1984. He tells his story in the books Losing Faith in Faith (1992) and Godless (2008).
