Zombies discuss how college is where you will be exposed to many different concepts, biases, perspectives, some will be very strange and even uncomfortable. So what do you do? Adopting academic fairmindness will 1) allow you to come up close to new things, and even help confront fears of the unknown. 2) It takes courage and humility to adopt fairmindness.

Sam is wrapping up our mini-series of setting you up for success by giving you a close up view of how she tackles study time. Sam was a VIP admit in her graduate program. What that means her academic performance as an undergrad gave her automatic admission into a graduate program. In other words, Sam really is a killer student (which is why she is a great co-host and mentor)!!
We are continuing our miniseries of setting you up for success. We are focusing on studying independently. Especially with COVID, you will have to be doing a lot of learning on your own. How do you do that? How do you maximize your study time in order to be a bad ass, killer student? We give you some tips on how to be one. Key take aways for this episode are:
1) Know key terms and definitions. Don't just memorize, be able to ________ (you fill in the blank).
2) Engage with the text you are reading by a) asking questions before you read and b) ______ (you fill in the blank).
3) You have to keep yourself accountable. What are some markers you need to set in place in order to make sure you stay on track?
In episode 4, the zombies talk about the staggering statistics of cheating in college, and the real reason why students cheat: the pre-programmed misconception that you HAVE to know everything. They flesh out the concept of knowing versus learning culture, and how studying can help you develop a personal learning culture. Also, one of the zombies shares her personal experience with cheating!
We talk about various articles that have impacted our viewpoint on the verbal meme "Karen", what if "The Me Too" movement collides with "Black Lives Matter" movement, AND then we dive into technicals tips you should be doing the first couple weeks of college.
Bite size episodes is where we take key concepts from our full length episode and then flesh them out (lol). This bite size is where we chew on the concept of making a vision board which was talked about it Episode 2 (okay, I am done with the puns).
