Education and Training

* Entering the industry or expanding

All of us are going to be strong in some areas of running a business, and weak in others
1st, get training in the technical end AND the business end

Be aware of where you have limited skills

The fact that it is fairly inexpensive to start a decorated apparel/product business feeds into the fallacy that you just need to hang out your shingle and you’re a real business
Misinformation in the industry (Sublimation Example from SkillsUSA)
Easier the process appears it seems the less new participants feel they need to learn
Broaden your horizons and gather info from a variety of sources
Planning, planning, planning… or crisis management
Don’t let starting a business scare you… like Aaron says, you stay awake thinking about the opportunities

Staff training

New employee training
Ongoing training - 52/15
Cross-training your staff

Personal continuing education/growth

The day you think you now “know it all” is the day your business begins to wither and die

Quote from Erich - The day you believe that you are a master or guru who has nothing to learn, you should quit. There's always something to learn.

Unusually in this industry we see people reach some level of expertise and then stagnate

10,000 Hours

Trade shows, seminars, publications - both print and online, interaction with peers

ErichCampbell: Being more well-rounded never hurts. :)
