Edward Sterck shares insights on the World Platinum Investment Council's latest quarterly report, explaining that although Q1 brought the sector's first surplus in six quarters, the platinum market is still expected to be in deficit this year.
"Reflecting on what happened in Q1, and those ETF and exchange stock outflows, we're expecting investment to return and recoup some of those Q1 losses," he said. "That's what results in the forecast for a deficit of about 300,000 ounces in 2026."
This interview was filmed on May 21, 2026.
