Why is it so difficult to receive love, support, and help, even when you have prayed for someone to finally show up for you?
In this episode of EESHAH with Arrin Alexa, we are uncovering what happens when rejection, abandonment, neglect, betrayal, and distrust follow you into adulthood.
You may deeply desire partnership, yet still struggle to believe that someone will remain consistent. You may ask for help, but when it comes, you question it, resist it, criticize it, or quietly prepare yourself to be disappointed.
Sometimes the problem is not that help never arrived. The problem is that pain trained you not to recognize it, trust it, or receive it.
Maybe you learned early that your needs would not be prioritized. Perhaps you were not the favored child, affection felt inconsistent, or you learned to overcompensate just to be noticed. Some wounds may have entered through unhealthy relationships or sexual experiences where rejection, shame, fear, distrust, or abandonment became connected to intimacy.
The experience may have ended, but the emotions remained packed inside an invisible suitcase that traveled with you into relationships, friendships, marriage, and even the way you see yourself.
Now someone can genuinely be trying to show up for you, but you are responding through the eyes of what happened before.
In this conversation, we are going deeper into how unresolved pain can make healthy love feel unfamiliar, why receiving help can sometimes feel more uncomfortable than doing everything yourself, and how to recognize when yesterday’s wounds are influencing today’s relationships.
Through Scripture and the leading of the Holy Spirit, we will also begin dismantling the emotional suitcase of rejection, abandonment, neglect, betrayal, and distrust so that when Elohim sends healthy support into your life, you are able to recognize it and receive it.
Today’s EESHAH takeaway will help you:
Name the wound.
Separate the past from the present.
Release what no longer belongs to you.
Receive what is being offered without immediately expecting it to disappear.
Because sometimes healing is not only learning how to survive what hurt you.
Sometimes healing is learning how to receive what you prayed for.
