On this week's episode of the Eight One Sixty, we wrap up our four-part series, Sound Minds. Back in March, Michelle Bacon conducted a survey about musicians dealing with mental health issues. Over 160 musicians did the survey and for the past four weeks, Bacon has been co-hosting the show and guiding a conversation about the survey findings. She's also offered up numerous options from organizations and places that provide affordable (and perhaps free) care for people in need.
In addition to Bacon sharing her findings and data, we have also been playing music from musicians and sharing the story behind the song, dealing with mental health. This week on the show we'll hear from Kirsten Paludan, Molly Picture Club, Mac Lethal, and Phoebe Bridgers.
We'll also be hearing music, and the story behind it from these musicians with upcoming gigs:
Sam Wells, playing Thursday for Folk Alliance International's Finest Folk showcase at Lemonade Park, along with The Matchsellers and Lyal Strickland
Teri Quinn of True Lions, playing Friday at The Black Box with Sam Wells and Blue False Indigo
Nate Allen of Good Saint Nathanael, playing at recordBar on Saturday with Mr. Golden Sun, and Blue False Indigo
Addie Sartino of The Greeting Committee, playing Loud & Local at E.H. Young Riverfront Park on Saturday, Aug. 7 along with Jake & The Dirty MagiciansIt's been an amazing month of shows and I feel like, now more than ever, so much of the knowledge that Bacon has shared, as well as guests, Dr. Erin Corriveau and Dr. Katie Jacobs needs to be heard and shared. Check below for a few resources Bacon mentioned on the show.
