Did you celebrate International Women’s Day on Saturday?

Did you realize with Daylight Savings, women were robbed of an hour, as our clocks jumped forward, stealing an hour?!?

Tuesday at 6PM on the Eight One Sixty radio show on 90.9 The Bridge we’re giving that hour back and we’ll be celebrating Women’s History Month via the lineup for Boulevardia 2025.

This year marks the 10th year of the fest and we’ll dive into the lineup and play music from 11 acts including Kat King, The Creepy Jingles, The Greeting Committee, Dalima Kapten, Jessica Paige, Little Miss Dynamite String Band, Katy Guillen & The Drive, Lorna Kay, Shay Lyriq, TheBabeGabe, and Flora from Kansas.

One of my favorite Instagram accounts to follow is Book More Women. They look at festival lineups and track gender inclusivity.

Bonnaroo: 17.7% Women

Coachella: 23.9% Women

Governors Ball: 30.1% Women

Boulevardia has 63% gender inclusivity for WOMEN on stage.

Special guest Neill Smith will join us, Neill has been part of Kansas City's music community for 20 years and has booked shows in venues of all sizes. After spending so many years working with different venues he's opening his own spot, Warehouse On Broadway. The venue opens this month and already has a stacked calendar.

We'll preview and hear music from several acts that will be playing at Warehouse On Broadway over the next few months. Way back in our 3rd season of the 8160 we did a series called "Life Of A Promoter," for this week's show, we'll revisit that list of questions to paint a picture of the crazy life of a promoter.

We welcome in special guests Frankie Shorez and malekazrael. Both musicians are part of an upcoming concert called Rock Is Black at a new event space/arts center near 18th and Vine called Zhou B Art Center, 1801 East 18th St,. (Check out the photos below of the event space!). We’ll discuss the big show coming up on Friday, February 28. Joining them on the lineup for this concert are Jamogi & the Jammers and Stephonne - we’ll hear music from all of these acts on the show.

We welcome special guest Kadesh Flow. He recently returned from a trip to Ireland on behalf of Creative City KC, where he played gigs in venues older than this country! He’ll tell us stories and share music from folks he met on his journey, as well as music from KC musicians that he thinks should be on your radar.

We’re excited to celebrate Black History Month on the 8160 this week with Kadesh Flow, and we’ll do it again next week with special guests Malek Azrael and Frankie Shorez.

We welcome in special guest, musician, brewer, business owner, entrepreneur, and rapper Kemet Coleman. Recently Kemet penned “A Musician’s Plea: Three Actions Kansas City Must Take Now” - did you read it? (link in comments below)

Kemet has been part of the KC music community for more than two decades and recently opened the first Black-owned brewery in Missouri, Vine Street Brewing Co. He’s gained a lot of knowledge over the years and met a lot of influential people, and now he’s putting it out there, his ideas on what should be done to push Kansas City music to the next level.

On the show, we’ll discuss his plea, ideas, and action items to help turn these bullet points into a checklist.

While Kemet sits down with us, we’ll play music from his catalog including a brand new song called “Born in the Middle” as well as songs from FlareThaRebel, Kadesh Flow, Vincent Orsolini, The Phantastics, Dominique Sanders, and Eddie Moore.

We’ll also hear one from Amber Flutienastiness & The Soul Patrol, they’ll be playing at Vine Street Brewery on Friday, January 31 as part of their ongoing jazz series.
