Today, August 5, 2021, is the 76th anniversary of the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima by the United States. The IOC is noting this event in the final Olympic closing ceremonies since Japan is hosting this year's Olympics. EJR then delved into the history of this nuclear attack, including the effects of 'little boy', (the unironic name of the nuclear device), and the journalistic coverage of this crime. We also questioned why Hiroshima was chosen, and whether this nuclear attack was necessary. (Newsflash, according to the Joint Chiefs of the military at the time--IT WASN'T).
