In the first episode of Wednesday, titled “Wednesday’s Child Is Full of Woe,” we meet Wednesday Addams, a brilliant but dark and rebellious teenager. The episode opens with her at her regular high school, where she takes revenge on some boys who bullied her brother Pugsley by releasing piranhas into the swimming pool during their practice. Of course, this gets her expelled, and her parents, Morticia and Gomez Addams, decide to send her to Nevermore Academy, a mysterious boarding school for outcasts, werewolves, sirens, and other supernatural beings.
At Nevermore, Wednesday struggles to fit in. She’s very independent, sarcastic, and doesn’t want to make friends, but she meets her colorful roommate Enid, a cheerful werewolf who tries to get along with her. Wednesday also encounters Xavier, a boy who seems interested in her, and Bianca, the school’s top student who immediately sees her as competition.
Soon, strange things start happening — Wednesday has psychic visions that show glimpses of violent events, and she learns that a monster is attacking people in the nearby woods. She begins to suspect that there’s a dark mystery connected to the school and even to her own family. By the end of the episode, she decides she’s going to stay at Nevermore, not to fit in, but to solve the mystery behind the monster attacks.
So, Episode 1 sets the tone for the series — a mix of mystery, supernatural elements, and Wednesday’s dark humor as she begins her journey of self-discovery and investigation at Nevermore Academy.
